I have a very large stand up gun safe I bought in 1980. It weighs 700 lbs. empty so no 2 or 3 guys are going to be carrying it off. It is old technology with a 3 number dial combination so it requires a light source to see the dial and about 20 to 30 seconds to open due to the dial combination. I have been wanting to get a bedside gun safe to keep one handgun near by and easily accessible but safe from the grand kids. This fits the bill and is exactly what I was hoping for. Very straight forward instruction manual on set up and installation. I mounted it on my side of the bed head board cabinet shown in the pictures. The space is about 9 inches wide. I mounted it higher than normal to also discourage the grand kids from messing with it. When I first opened it with the factory settings the drawer only opened a couple of inches. I noticed a little clear grease on the slide so I manually cycled the drawer in and out a little to make sure the slide was well lubricated and that fixed that problem. It opens all the way every time now. I programmed my number into the keypad which was straight forward. The manual recommends saving at least 3 different positions of the same thumb/finger chosen on the scanner. I did my left thumb and right index finger both 3 time in slightly different positions. With light where you can see the keypad it recognizes my finger/thumb prints every time. I was pleased. In the dark I wasn't so successful. I actually caused the safe to go into "alarm" mode by trying 5 time to get it to read my thumb. (I had failed to read that in the manual. Good to know) It will reset after 5 minutes or you can reset it by opening it with the provided key which is what I did. I was able to use the key by braille quite easily. Because of the limited space where I mounted it using my left thumb was the easier than using my right index especially in the dark. I ended up have to scan my thumb a total of 9 times to get it to work 99% the first time in complete darkness. If it does not recognize my thumb print the first time in the dark it at least lights up the keypad so I can see the numbers and the scanner button so I can position my thumb properly on the reader or use the keypad numbers. To me this is very acceptable. It has worked very well doing it this way. I am very satisfied with the safe and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type safe.

I love this safe! It is very sturdy and the the slide out functions very smoothly. The biometrics work well, but I've noticed that if my fingers are dryer or wetter than when I registered the finger prints that it was less reliable. You can register up to 20 fingerprints, so I just started registering my most used fingers under different conditions multiple times to improve reliability. I would definitely buy this again when needed.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I've only used it for a couple of days. It seems to be very well-made. I didn't buy it to keep burglars from getting the gun, but to prevent kids from having access. It waa very easy to program. The fingerprint reader seems to work well. I like the battery access and the USB backup power. I don't care much for the placement of the backup key access, but that's my only complaint so far. If you use a weapon-mounted light, you may need to modify the foam insert in order to accommodate the gun. With the amount of positive reviews, it seemed like a good purchase.

WAAAY better than my previous safe with very similar profile that flipped open (loudly). 1) FULL SIZE handgun WITH red-dot fits with ease, old safe no, no chance. 2) Silent (nearly so). The one time I needed the old safe in the middle of the night stealth was difficult and added time. 3) Accommodates an extra full size (18-20+ round mag). Old safe no extra mag space at all. 4) Battery access VERY easy. Old safe was incredibly difficult. 5) Mounts securely QUICKLY and EASILY. Same with old safe. 6) THREE WAYS to get in: Biometric, Combination, Key. Old safe two ways, combo, key. If you are on the fence, no worries. This is a good safe.

The Langger biometric/slider handgun safe is nicely constructed and is a good value compared to other competitors . It holds my 1911 plus two extra magazines with ease. The biometric sensor was easy to program and recognizes my fingerprint every time. Regular keypad entry works just fine too. The slider opens almost instantaneously when the sensor reads your fingerprint or accepts the combination code. The slider drawer opens with plenty of force even with the weight of my pistol and the 2 extra magazines. Mounting the safe is easy with the provided bracket. So far, I am impressed for the price. The thing I think could be improved upon is the thickness of the steel case. I believe it should be thicker. I worry that it might be too easy to force open with a screwdriver or similar tool. Hopefully the electronics on this safe continue to be reliable. Many of the entry level biometric sensors work great at first and then stop working after the first year or so. Hopefully I will get many years of use out of my Langger slider safe.

I rarely write reviews for items I purchase on amazon even though I'm an avid user of reviews (I know, I should be better about this). I was so impressed with this handgun safe that I had to leave a review. When looking for a handgun safe, my requirements were -- 1) Be able to properly secure a large handgun (1911) from children and other unauthorized people 2) Be quickly accessible in the middle of night without having to get out of bed and/or fumble around in the dark. This safe hit those two "must haves" right out of the park! As you can see from video, this handgun safe is big enough to comfortably hold my Springfield 1911 and one mag. The foam insert in the safe can be removed and cut if needed to accommodate larger guns although I did not have to do that for mine. The battery pack is on the back side of safe and easily removable. Four AAA batteries are required and are not provided. I found the simplicity of the safe's operating functions very desirable. I had the safe open and programmed with a new code in under 5 mins from unpacking and most of that time was me installing batteries and reading the manual it comes with. I had up to 15 fingerprints (certain fingers I put in multiple times to increase the readability) within the first 10 mins. The program button to input a new code and/or new fingerprints is located in the safe under the #3 key. The safe allows you to put a code that is 4, 5, or 6 digits long using the numbers 1-4. You cannot press two digits at the same time. There is also a quiet feature to silence the loud beeping that is heard every time you enter a number or fingerprint. The safe comes with two physical keys that can unlock the safe from the keyhole found on the underside of the safe. I installed this bad boy on the side of my night stand. I did have to modify my nightstand with a quarter inch piece of plywood due to the design of the nightstand and the desired height I wanted the safe to rest. This was not a knock against the design of the safe or mounting bracket but just simply a quick fix to make sure the safe sat in a position that was best suited for my personal liking. The mounting bracket was very simple to screw on to the nightstand with the four screws provided and it can be switched from the left or right side of the safe to accommodate different mounting positions. The bracket has a small safety screw that screws on from the inside of the safe. I did find it a little challenging to get this small safety screw on but only because I have overly large hands and the safe is too small for me to get my giant meat hooks in there while also having the dexterity needed to properly fit this screw. So I just got my wife to do it instead. Overall, I am very impressed with this safe. While it is a little pricey compared to other handgun safes, I find it to be worth every penny. With a small child running around and more to come, this safe gives me peace of mind that my gun is both safe from children and easily accessible for authorised users.

It recognizes my fingerprint instantly without having to reposition my finger or retry, which is exactly what you want in a situation where time matters. Purchased in Canada. I saw a comment saying this safe isn’t compliant with Canadian storage laws. That’s entirely false and unfortunately uneducated therefore misleading. This safe meets all the criteria for a firearm storage safe; “Restricted Firearms (e.g., handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm or more, certain semi-automatic rifles): Must have a secure locking device attached to the firearm and be stored in a securely locked container or room that is difficult to break into. ALTERNATIVELY, they CAN be stored in a purpose-built vault or safe, which NEGATES THE NEED for an ADDITIONAL secure locking device on the firearm itself.” It’s functional, operates smoothly and setup and mounting were a breeze. Highly recommend for peace of mind. If the batteries die, (which wouldn’t be the safe companies fault) you can use a key to open it. Just keep that in mind during your placement and you’re golden.

Solid! Comes with a three-way access: key, code, fingerprint. Box is heavy and thick. Full size gun fits comfortably. The metal has a pleasant, probably scratch-resistant texture. No complaints whatsoever. My worry on Amazon usually is: does the description / photo match the product? In this case, it does. I would recommend it to my friends, it's a good buy, and at a very good price. Fingerprint could be somewhat tricky (you have to place the finger exactly how you registered it), but you have the option to scan multiple sides of the finger, making sure it's quick and easy for every angle.

Came with cheap screws that stripped easily I recommend drilling pilot holes first. other than that it's a solid strong safe biometric works good.
