Very impressed with this portable emergency radio/charger/light!!
Here in Texas we get many tornadoes and have been experiencing floods. I have had more than my fair share of outages in the last year and they have continued for 12+ hours. After the last one when all the flash lights in our house were dead, I swore I was going to get an emergency cell phone charger and light. My home phone service is through the wireless router in our house so the when the electricity goes out our phones will not work.Sure enough only 2 days after I got the emergency radio/light/charger we had a storm. After only a few cranks the radio and light came on and it was brighter than I expected. The radio channels came in very clear. I cranked a few more times to see if it would actually charge my cell phone and used the provided cord to plug it in. There are adapters for i Phones and Android. The little bloop sounded and the phone showed it was charging. It's not going to be your lightening charger, but this is so great to have in an emergency. One thing I didn't expect was that the radio suddenly went off at 6:00am, at the same time the cell phone alert went off for the severe thunderstorm warning. I wasn't aware that it would also alert you of severe weather. I would imagine that it would need to be charged to use this function. The size is very portable and could be kept in a glove compartment, back pack, purse or nightstand drawer. The length is about the size of a larger cell phone but it is as thick as a paperback. Also, if your power goes out during the day, it has a solar panel for power. The only con could be if you don't like cranking the handle, but in an emergency, I can't imagine anyone would mind. This emergency product really impressed me and I will definitely be recommending it to friends and family. I received this product at a discount for my honest and unbiased review of the product.

Mine didn't work well
Mine is junk. Power out with hurricane Irma. Took this guy out, cranked it for a couple of minutes, listened to the radio for probably 15 minutes or so. Tried to charge an iPhone. iPhone would indicate it was charging for just a few seconds and then stop charging. Cranked it for a good 3 minutes or so, could not get it to charge either iPhone. Then the radio wouldn't last but maybe 5 minutes, even after continuing to crank it.

Don't get caught in the dark
I have been looking for a weather emergency radio when I came across this Mexia Emergency Solar Hand Crank Self Powered AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio, this wasn't the particular type that I had been searching for but when I was given the opportunity to try it at a discount and read the reviews I jumped at the chance. I live in an area that is prone to tornadoes so it isn't unusual to lose power and usually as my luck would have it my phone never seems to be fully charged when that happens so to have this with all of it 's features it great. First off I was surprised at the size, not too big/not too small. This is a perfect size for fitting in your hand for easy mobility and it feels durable, I like the rubberized housing and that the plastic does not feel cheap. This is great for my emergency kit as it has some of the key things that I need all in one. The flashlight is fairly bright and easy to turn on with the push of a button. The tuning of the am/fm/noaa radio was easy to tune to several stations with good reception, for those that I did have some issues with the problem was easily solved by pulling up and positioning the antenna. The volume was also good as I was able to turn it up rather loud without crackling. I like that this unit has multiple ways to charge it, the hand crank is very easy to turn however it seems as though it doesn't last long, the description states that 1 minute hand-cranking supports over 5 minutes radio play time, over 30 minutes of continuous torch light,5 minutes cell phone talk time, However I didn't feel as though it lasted that long for me. At this time I have been unable to test how well the rechargeable batteries or solar power works as I am waiting for my batteries to arrive. I like that this unit is waterproof and that I am able to use it indoor and outdoors as there have been a couple of times where we have had to go out in the pouring rain to figure out where a leak was coming from. Tha fact that this unit has a way to charge our smartphones and iphone is a major plus especially during dangerous weather when that could be your only lifeline. Overall for me this emergency weather radio is a must have, like I said it has several of your weather emergency needs all in one that can be carried in your hand. If you are lking for an emergeny weather radio at a reasonable price then I wwould suggest that you strongly consider this unit.

I Love this Radio
I do not think it would be possible to give this awesome radio anything but 5 stars. This portable emergency device has it all I think,I love the fact that it is solar and you can keep it charged just by leaving it near a window where the sun can hit it.Let's say that it is the dead of winter and you don't have any sun to charge it up you can actually charge the unit up by hand crank. When all else fails you always have the option of just plugging it in and charging it the good old fashioned way.Once you have made the decision on how you want to charge it then you get to decide what you want to use it for.The radio itself works really well and the weather band is a really nice touch for if you are in a place where you get really bad weather.I'm spoiled and in Southern California so I don't feel like this is the most important part of the radio,if we get "the big one" out here you can believe that this little guy will be worth it's weight in gold. The radio and the flashlight are both really nice features but then to top it all off it comes with a variety of adapters to charge your phone or your tablet or just about anything else you might need to charge up.I do not own an iphone or an ipad ( I have an android phone and a kindle ) so I don't know if it comes with those adapters or not ( I have heard that it does not ) but it wouldn't matter if you already have your cord just plug it in.Let's face it if you have an emergency this will be the best 15 or 20 dollars you have ever spent.I absolutely think everyone needs to have one of these in their closet.
