Spin: Captain Chase, Book 2

The future is with us
This second book follows very closely on fron the first Chase book and feels to be more populated by other characters although there is once again that sense of space about it (no pun intended). It is narrated in the first person , Calli< and so we dont get to view the bigger picture of whats going on around her other than what she is engaged in - I think that is where the sense of space comes from. Thius story gives us an insight into what became of her twin sister which was only hinted at in the first book. Theres a trip to the White House, a criminal element, a child prodigy and advanced technolgy in abundance. It makes a good engrossing story with potential for future books.

Not for me
I was a bit ambivalent about the first book in this series but decided to order the second. However, I am just not enjoying this at all, which is a shame as I have enjoyed all Patricia Cornell's other books. I am sure that it is well researched but I am not connecting with the characters and it does not feel like a cohesive story.

SPIN
Found the first book very frustrating but had become invested in the storyline and wanted to see how it progressed? It had its moments of holding my attention but have decided this series is not for me.I think maybe this is geared towards the younger reader and tries too hard in parts.Got fed up with the acronyms and descriptions of the equipment, so boring.Unfortunately doesn't move quick enough through the story and got a bit ridiculous, did we have to have pages and pages of how Calli navigated a snowy car park to get to the super car?Very frustrating, good in parts, not very likable characters, stupid names and acronyms sorry I give up?

Superb sequel
Yet another fabulous book following smartly in the footsteps of the Quantum.Intrigue and suspense throughout with excellent character and plot development.Once again left on a cliffhanger and eager for the next instalment.

Dreadful
One of the rare books i couldnt be bothered to finish! Its slow, told in the first person, full of irrespection and technobabble, with no likeable characters. And it reads as if the same 2 main characters from her Scarpetta books have just been taken into a new environment. It really annoyed me! One star is generous.

Ok
Not as bad as the first book in the series of you have read my review of first book you know I wasn't at all impressed but as I bought both books at the same time I thought I might as well try the second to see if it's any better and overall its ok not brilliant but readable the story is still a bit confusing don't know where miss Cornwall is going with it but if I was to sum it up in two words they would be NOT TERRIBLE.

Not the usual characters
Didn't really enjoy reading this book as it doesn't have the usual characters in a Patricia Cornwell novel. I found it really hard work trying to figure out what the story was about. Definitely one to avoid.

Loved this book and series so far
This has been one of my favorite books of the year so far!Brilliantly written, excellent details but laid out in such a way that an average person could understand the technical side. It's just a really well constructed plot and you can tell the difference between many average writers and the really talented and well researched ones.
