Wonderful and delicious!
I haven't had these mints in years. They aren't for everyone though. Some might say the taste resembles perfume but it doesn't to me. Perfect mix of violets and anise. I swear though, I remember these having a slightly stronger taste. Either way, still great!

Tastes like soap
I tried this out because I thought it would be a good alternative to gum while studying. I don't like the taste, it didn't last very long at all, and the packaging is neither here nor there, but I can tell the quality of the candy was okay. Packaging - top is metal tin, bottom is plastic - weird aesthetically. Causes there to be an unsatisfying dull sound when the candy moves in the tin. Candy - just white hard round balls, kinda powdery-looking but very compact. There's a little chewy violet in the middle which is kinda fun. The taste is complex - at first it's fine and sweet, the sweetness then intensifies and fills your mouth and nose with the smell of old makeup, and it's got a vaguely cinnamon-y flavor to it, which I am guessing is the anise. Again, not really my thing and gave me a headache, but I appreciated the uniqueness of it. Purposes: I don't see this serving me as an after-lunch breath mint. It dissolves far too quickly to serve as a study aide. I could see this waking me up a bit though, just from the novelty of the taste. I really wanted to like it, but I unfortunately will not be purchasing this again.

Packaging is awful and the flavor is not good
I see that this product has a high rating but I think it is terrible! The packaging is awful -- it is a tin but it is covered with sticky, icky tape. The product label also leaves sticky stuff all over the box. When I finally got it open the candy was not what I expected. The pieces are small and round and I almost choked on the one I tried. The flavor is not good either. To me it tastes like perfume flavored sugar that then tastes like nothing after about 30 seconds. I'll stick with my Gicopa violet candies.

Expensive laundry detergent candy- Choward’s are better
Not as good as Choward’s violet mints. These are sweet and lightly floral, but the violet tastes like lavender laundry detergent instead. Very expensive for the amount you get.

Queen Victoria Would Likely Approve
These are some of my favorite hard candies. Not too sweet and easy enough to pop one in your mouth without anyone really noticing. I love bringing a tin along in my purse everywhere I go, for myself and to offer around. You would be amazed how diverse people’s reactions are to exotic and exquisite candy. These and Chowards violet candies are some of the best in terms of sharing and/or enjoying all to yourself. The flavor of violet is very subtle here, with a sweet and sophisticated anise center. Not a hard flavor like black licorice, it’s definitely what one would imagine a Victorian lady enjoying while curled up with a book or offering up to her favored guests for an afternoon tea.
