Fun, works well--not too scary too launch inside.
When assembled this was actually a great manageable size. Assembly was easy and the catupult put together is about the width of a standard stapler. It suctions to surfaces to give it more launch power which proved to be very helpful in a successful launch. I bought this for a five year old but the 35 year old child in my family couldn't help but launch balls everywhere. The balls are reasonably light weight and if you are going to allow any projectile in a home this is a reasonable safe bet. The balls have been launched at me, my walls and even the flat screen tv (by mistake) and no damage has been done. The balls are bright orange so if you decide to shoot them off the patio you can find them easily in the lawn despite the fact that they are a little bit smaller than a ping pong ball. The little spikes keep them rolliing too far from their original destination when they land . It is easy to aim to hit a bucket or a target and as a good catupult should your force does indeed make a not so subtle impact on how far this is launched. It is loose enough that a younger child can hurl the balls pretty far. The catapult is also useful in launching small plastic Angry Birds, Lego characters and tons of other miscellaneous items that a child can dream up.

What kid wouldn't like this!?
Bought these for a five-year old and a nine year old. What a blast they have with them. I ordered a bag of 100 colored ping pong balls to go with them (of course the orange balls that come with them are much better, but I didn't notice any less fun when they split this bag of ping pong balls to continue shooting at each other...they loved the longer play time before the "round-up the ammunition" time). They also use them for target practice using empty water bottles, soda cans, army men, etc.I would actually recommend you get two of them so that you can use them with parent, sibling, friend, etc in a game of war.A few things to realize. They are small...probably more than you think when you look at the in the photo. And the suction cups aren't the greatest but a hand can be used to stabilize them. Look at the directions to assemble them correctly...the launching lever and rubber band must be a specific way. They are made of plastic but a sturdy enough that it's been 3 months and they are still going strong. I haven't measured how far the balls can be launched, but I would say at least 20 feet. Parents found them irresistable too.

Fun toy. It is smaller than expected
Fun toy. It is smaller than expected, but we knew that from reading other reviews. It launches the balls quite far. It comes with 6 balls, I was pleasantly surprised because I was only expecting 2 balls. The boys had fun playing with this catapult. The suction cups didn't stick to our table very well. When the little guys played, an older boy or adult would hold the base down to make it easier for the little guys to launch. I would recommend this toy. It is just made out of plastic, but it is holding up better than I anticipated.

A hit! A most palpable hit!
We discovered these recently at a local library fair. The theme was time travel through history and these were used in the medieval area in a game of breaching the castle wall and trying to knock its occupants from their perch! Each of my five children ages 3-12 (not to mention my husband!) Were so enamored with these that I ended up ordering some on my phone before we even left the building. We received them in the mail today and have yet to stop playing with them. To make the most of their playability, I ordered two catapults and one set of extra balls (6 in a pkg). I highly recommend the extra balls as we have already lost two inside our house. They seem to be of sturdy construction and are very fairly priced, but as to longevity of use or under harsher hands, I cannot yet determine.Overall, I recommend this if you are looking for a fun toy, great for all ages, with some educational value (learning about arch and propulsion). Enjoy the impending assault!

It’s good
A nice little catapult. We needed it for a science experiment and I didn’t want to figure out how to assemble my own. This arrived quickly and in time and worked great. It’s a fun toy to fling things with. You just have to use the orange foam balls it comes with or make sure your substitute option fits exactly, or build a little makeshift cradle out of tape or something, if you want to fling something a little smaller, like a marble or something. Anyway, it’s great.

Not what I expected.
I have never left a less than 5 star review on any product but feel the description is misleading. The toy is a bit flimsy. The grip feet wont stick to anything and I couldn't get this to "catapult" more than just over 12 feet at the most. It is a fun stocking stuffer type of toy but not worth the $11.00 I paid for it. I can understand it would be an okay gag gift but not for a gift I meant to give as a main gift.

A very cute toy!
The catapult is not a large toy. I would say the little nerf balls it shoots are roughly an inch in diameter. If you pull stretch the rubber band according to directions, you can shoot the balls across a good size room. You won't do any damage if you follow directions. Kids who are 31/2 can work it without too much help. I would say the framework is a little delicate in the sense that it won't stand up to a lot of very rough handling. But if you know a child who likes shooter toys like this, they will probably like it a lot. The kids who used it at my house thought it was fun, but it didn't hold their interest for very long.

Fun projectile toy for cube warriors
You're going to need a clean, smooth, flat surface for the suction cups to stick to.The launcher is basically a circle of plastic rather than a cup, and it's hard to fit anything other than the provided spiked ball inside: the spikes keep the ball from falling entirely through. This seems to be a deliberate safety choice, as the instructions caution you to only use the provided soft foam balls.Make sure the coast is very clear before using it to launch jolly ranchers or other small candy, as those hurt on impact. The mechanism is not strong enough to launch the large size blowpops more than a few inches, but jolly ranchers sail about as far as the foam balls.
