I Love These
Came across these by chance when looking for a healthy alternative to microwave rice. I have tried several variations from the Merchant Gourmet range, but these are by far my favourite. They complement many dishes perfectly, from grilled chicken breasts to sauced based dishes, such as curries or meatballs. The flavour is fairly mild, so not something I would eat on its own, and the texture is lovely and crunchy, therefore adding a lot of interest to meals. Easy to heat. Although, I'm not sure a bag is sufficient for two people! I would happily eat these every day.

So tasty and so good for you
With a new ability to cook and plenty of time to enjoy my own cooking, I tried this great mixture of grains, lentils and sultanas with aromatic spice and no chili. The packet cooks quickly in the microwave, and I add a little olive oil to serve. Sometimes it's all I have for my evening meal, and I'm still plenty satisified. I highly recommend this dish, but please don't buy too much of it. I want to buy more!

versatile
The texture of this product is very pleasing. They are at home in most dishes as they are not flavoured. I use a lot of them.

Rather dry but versatile
I wa sceptical that this takes less than a minute to microwave but indeed it does: piping hot. I eat a lot of packet rice (in particular the whole grain Mexican variety of a well known competitor) so I was looking forward to tryingsomething a bit different, yet at the same time had something to compare it with.To begin with I was surprised by how hot/spicy this mix is (in fact it actually made my nose and eyes run a little). That would be fine but the bigger disappointment for me was how dry the product was - it really could do with being a bit moister out of the packet. Sure you can add some additional water yourself, but this is irritating for what should be convenience/fast food. I added some soy sauce which helped matters somewhat by adding moisture and to balance the flavours a bit, but I still felt it a bit of a chore to get down. On the plus side I could easily see this as being a reasonable accompaniment to a wide range of dishes (or being a good ingredient in something else). I just wouldn’t want to eat this again on its own. Price-wise it’s a little dear but not unreasonably so compared to other packet rice/bean mixes. All in all though I felt a bit disappointed with it (but they will come in for things like burritos and enchiladas etc. where it would probably work really well).

A good purchase
I've purchased a couple of varieties of these grain packs and with the addition of a few extra vegetables they make for a delicious meal . I recomend.
