Eastman 86288 Universal Stainless Steel Water Heater Expansion Tank Mounting Bracket, 5 Gallon or 13 inches

Be sure to read the reviews carefully before installing. We forgot to line up the bottom screw on this with the plywood backboard we counted it on. We mounted a 2 gallon TET with this so didn't have to get incredibly creative with mounting. It was a bit awkward getting the straps on and you should definitely wear good gloves when working with the bracket and ss straps to avoid getting cuts from the sharp edged metal parts.In retrospect, we probably could have made our own mounting bracket from scrap metal plates we had handy. As it was though, it saved about of hour of time to just have this thing in the box ready to go. And you will have to figure out how to mount it anyways. That took us another hour or two to get the plywood backboard cut and everything marked off in our water closet, etc, before drilling holes into our 2x4 studs to mount the unit. Then another 15 minutes figuring out how to get the straps put in properly. Next time, if there is a next time, obviously things will go quicker—installing one of these for the first time isn't hard but we were extra careful in marking and verifying the marks on the walls so no silly mistakes that would delay getting our thermal expansion hooked up and the water heater back on line.

I had no place to mount my expansion tank to the wall and maintain a high position where it could work properly according to info I got from plumbing shops. I had to buy two kits and use them to connect turnbuckles and then attach to overhead joints via angle iron (with holes). The original plumber relied on plastic clips nailed to the joints to support the piping attached to the tank. The clips failed and the whole unit fell and rested on other pipes not designed to take the load.

This hanger did a great job holding up the large expansion tank. I anchored it to my concrete wall, then strap the tank to tye mount. It is a great time saver and also relief the stress on the piping. I wish it comes with better instructions. The instructions doesn't tell you much, from which slot to choose and where to strap the tank, thus the 3 star.
