Works perfectly in 1998 Aeron Miller Classic (Size B)
I asked a question about this, and got some feedback that it might not fit my chair, as the taper at the bottom of the cylinder might not be pronounced enough.I saw that the seller offered free returns if the lift didn't fit, and that it fits 95% of chairs out there, so I thought that I had nothing to lose.I've given it Comfort 5*, as it's made such a difference to my chair. The old lift had a cracked bushing, so flopped backwards and forwards, and side to side, and made a hideous clank noise when you sat down or stood up.I gave it 5* value for Money, as it's half the price of the next closest lift, and comes with a fitting kit and gloves.I gave it 5* ease of assembly, as once you've got the lift off the old chair, it's literally a case of dropping it in to the base and then putting the chair seat on top and pushing down. I didn't even have to adjust the offset screw for the height adjuster lever. One thing I will say is that this is *slightly* wider than the standard Aeron lift taper. This has the advantage that the bottom of the lift isn't 3mm off the floor (which is something that always bothered me). It has the disadvantage (if you can call is that) of the height of the chair being ~3-4cm higher on the minimum than it used to be. For me, this isn't a problem at all, and I have a fairly low desk.As with other reviewers, I did have a bit of an issue getting the old lift out - this is nothing to do with this new lift, so I can hardly mark them down for it. I had the same problem that everyone else had, in that the top of the lift won't come out of the chair base. The locking ring slid down the lift slightly as the bolts were tightened. Unlike others, the ring didn't slide down too far - the bolts themselves deformed the top ring, making deep holes in it.In the end, I removed the clip from the bottom (to remove the base and lower shroud). A standard hammer had no effect at all, so I ended up using a sledgehammer. It popped out with a single blow.I removed the seat from the top of the lift using a plumbers wrench. I was unable to do it by hand, but again, a quick smack from a sledgehammer took it right off.At that point it was a case of wiping out the upper and lower holes, putting the new lift into place, taking the plastic cap off, and putting the seat on top. My getting on for 25 year old Aeron is now as good as new!

This product saved me hundreds of pounds!
After discovering my office chair was getting lower by the week it was something of a relief to find it was just the cylinder and not me shrinking! This kit arrive in just a day and it took me less than 10 minutes to fix and be sitting in my 'new' chair (at the right height) once more.In my excitement, I had forgotten the protective plastic cowling that went around the cylinder so I performed the process one more time to put that in place.I had started looking at new chairs but now my excellent old one works as good as new, maybe even better! The instructions are very clear and the old cylinder was extracted relatively easily. The gloves that come with the kit were also most appreciated. £25 very well spent.

Tool removes chair from piston easily once you're doing it correct
I eventually stopped being lazy and got around to changing the gas cylinder for my chair a few months ago and everything works fine. Like a lot of things I don't think I checked the supplied instructions carefully but apparently people have an issue with them not being helpful enough.I'd advise just following the 5 step installation graphic on the amazon product page -The upper collar is to be left loose because that will be the one to push the seat off and the bottom collar is to be tight. I had them both tight initially. The screws will do all the work on the seat, *it should not be difficult*. If it is being difficult to pop off the seat then reassess what you're doing, you may not have it set correctly. In the instructions I seem to remember it advising to use a rubber mallet to dislodge the old broken cylinder from the wheeled base - that didn't work for me but a swift smack with a regular hammer did the trick.Overall satisfied with the product so far.

Worth it for the removal tool alone!
I had looked up videos on how to change the gas lift, and so purchased a cheaper gas lift, but soon found that even with a wrench and a whole load of brute force, there was no way the gas lift was coming away from the seat! I then did some more research and saw videos using the removal tool included with this product (sadly couldn't find it on it's own), so purchased this product.Even with the tool it was still quite tough getting it off, but it was MUCH easier than using a wrench. Given how tough it was there is no way I would have gotten it off without the removal tool. The great thing is that it can also be re-used - so it is definitely staying in my toolbox! The piston itself is very good, and has a nice height to it (was higher than my previous one, which I always had to have on max height)These are 2 tips I would offer to anyone using this:1. Make sure you have removed all the grease from the piston / bottom ring, and make sure to screw it REALLY tight. Also it helps to mark where the ring is, so you can see if the bottom ring is slipping, rather than actually pushing the piston off2. Make sure to remove the cap off the piston before putting the chair on!
