Cole's BH10 Blazing Hot Blend Bird Seed, 10-Pound

We decided to give this bird food a try, even though it's pricier than some. We have several bird feeders, and squirrels were eating most of the food. We tried sprinkling cayenne and spraying chili water to no avail. A friend recommended this seed. So far, squirrels won't touch it - at least not after the first try. :-) However, the birds love it, so, even though it's expensive, it lasts a lot longer.

Started using this seed for my second floor apartment balcony in Florida. I loved the antics of the visiting squirrels, but when they were constantly digging into my potted plants, I had to do something. I ordered a small bag of this and also purchased a competing bag of seed from the nearby hardware store for comparison purposes. There is no comparison. While the squirrels wouldn’t eat the other seed, neither would the birds.The Cole’s seed keeps the squirrels out of the feeders, but birds of all varieties love it. Since moving into a new house with a backyard feeder, I now have a wide variety of birds visiting my feeder. This will be the only feed I will use to keep away squirrels and keep my birds happy. The only downside is making sure you protect your eyes from the dust it produces if you transfer it into another container for easier pouring. Especially when wiping sweat off of your face in the hot Florida climate. Other than that, I can’t recommend this highly enough. It’s the best of both worlds.

Very effective alternative to other “physical” methods of keeping squirrels out of your bird feeder while not harming the birds (who cannot taste the “heat”).Like all bird feeders you must periodically clean the feeder since squirrels are dirty animals.

The media could not be loaded. This product works! If you love watching birds, but hate squirrels destroying your feeder. You need this product. After investing in a feeder with a camera I needed a food that wouldn't invite rodents. You will not be disappointed with this. Highly recommend it!!

Hours after our hanging bird feeder was supplied with the Blazing Hot seeds, our marauding black bear returned. It pulled over the pole-mounted feeder, pried off the top, and dumped the seeds on the walk. After trying some, ot got up, wandered off, and has not returned. So far, so good. On the other hand, the most frequent airborne visitors to the feeder—chickadees, nuthatches, and tufted titmice—seem interested only in the sunflower seeds, and ignore the others in the mix, making this a a costly approach. I believe I shall move on to Plan B: use only black-oil sunflower seed and treat it with Capsaicin (hot-pepper) spray in small batches as I refill the feeder. Of course, people who entertain a different mix of birds may have a different experience.

The media could not be loaded. The birds absolutely love the seed I get 100 videos a day. Be sure to wash your hands after touching the seed as it is hot will burn if you touch your eyes or mouth.

Cardinals, blue jays, titmouses, white winged doves, wrens eat this stuff up, and squirrels stay away.
