Bolt 709231 Replacement Lock Cylinder for Bolt Tailgate Handle #5922987 Gray

Installed on a 2007 Silverado 1500, which did not come originally with a locking tailgate. Seems to be durable and well made, but only installed it yesterday. If it fails earlier than expected, I'll come back and update the review. Took about 10 minutes to install, not counting the time it took to remove the tailgate liner. I had removed the liner previously to install a Pop & Lock, which did not fit my truck. I especially like that you can key it to your ignition key, so you don't have to put another key on the key ring. It keyed to my ignition key on first try with no problem. Now I have a locking tailgate to go with my hard-shell tonneau, and secure items in the truck bed. Even without a tonneau, it will prevent theft of the tailgate itself, which is easily removed without the lock.

Easy to key and install works well

Just installed this one is less than 5 mins. Works perfectly as a single key unit. I originally bought a 'used like new' unit from Amazon Marketplace and noticed immediately after opening the box that the cylinder lock did not have the protective cover on the cylinder but the back of the unit did say 'inspected'. All that meant was that they inspected the unit for cosmetic damage. Unfortunately once these units are keyed, they only work for that key so I tried my key, it didn't work so I returned it and bought a new one. Lesson learned. This unit looks and fits like OEM. If you are looking for a lock for your tailgate don't hesitate and buy this one. Having the single key is a great feature. Now I'm looking for a tonneau cover and I wish they would use this key feature so that my ignition key would open the tailgate and tonneau cover.

Installation was very straight forward. Only took a few minutes. Fit perfectly in my 2007 Silverado (newer version, not the classic). The plastic bezel was good quality. Pretty much just like the original I’d say. Setting up your original key to work with the lock is super easy. Just follow the instructions. There are videos on how to do this as well.

The install was pretty easy (15-20 minutes) and it does key to whatever you want. I was able to key it to my ignition key which is very handy. I tried cheaper similar items and was incredibly disappointed. Shop around for the best price but I think the product is worth it.

So I found out about this line of products because I'm an engineer at ford and the parent company came for a open house with new products...I saw this line and I thought they were the coolest thing and I decided to order this handle as a surprise gift for my dad. First let me say installation is really easy and took less then 20 minutes. This is the company that makes the OEM handles for vehicles and this thing is absolutely perfect. it looks exactly the same as the OEM locking handle from Chevy, it fits perfect same as OEM, and the quality to the parts are the exact same as OEM from Chevy. The automatic keying process took 5 seconds and worked perfect. I'm going to order more products from this company for my dad so his locks for the hitch are the same too. FYI: the package says "Made in Korea" if your interested in country of manufacturer

Extremely easy to install. You need to remove the screws from the bed side of the tailgate. The trim piece just pops out of the slots in the tailgate. New one will pop back in place. Works great and looks fantastic. Looks better than original to me. The key port on the factory unit is sort of behind the handle making it awkward to put the key in. This new piece the key port is to the side of the handle making a whole lot more sense to me and very easy to insert the key.

Exactly like original part

Fit well, seems like good quality plastic. Works as described. Simple to pair the lock with the ignition key, such a great feature.
