Smaller than I expected, nice covers but the paper.
Looks nice, the size is Normal, and the paper is thinner and whiter than expected. The writing is very simple and serves as a hangover soup when you read the next book. I like it well done, none of it I find to be amazons fault but there’s some damage on the box, little, barely noticeable. I advise you to buy the cheaper versions.

They're books, what more is there to say?
Good quality books and case thingy.I watched the films (on release) and, initially, enjoyed them. Then read these books and watched the films again. The books are much better than the films. The films are actually quite poor in comparison. The story is, in general, quite good. Katniss gets a bit annoying towards the end because she never seems to grow out of her 'whiny teen' stage despite all the things she goes through, you'd think she'd grow up a bit but nevermind. The prequel story/film should be interesting...

Better than the films!
Usually people would read the books before the films, I however had the pleasure of watching the films first, which set expectations of how I thought the book was going to be. Luckily those expectations were concluded with satisfactory on a whole for both the film and the books as they had their own superiority, definitely worth trying and arrives extremely quickly!

More than worthy of all the praise!
I enjoyed these books immensely, finding each book to be better than the last. I loved that nothing was glamourized in these books, not even romances. I really didn't want the books to be mainly about a love triangle between the protagonists and I was glad that the books were complex enough that this was not the case. I appreciated the way in which Suzanne Collins made the storyline easy to follow but littered it with complex issues that made you forget that these books are for young adults. Despite the dark tone to the book in its frequent dealing with violence and death, Collins successfully straddles the line between youth and adult fiction in that it is suitable for the younger reader without being disturbing yet the horror may be more evident to a more mature/adult mind. I think that this book has such huge appeal because it can be enjoyed by readers of any age and any genre. I enjoyed reading about the darkness in this dystopian world because it makes a change from the modern novels especially the YA ones in that it is very realistic and educative but also completely and utterly fascinating and entertaining. This is the kind of modern novel that I think could be on a syllabus!

Boxed set Hunger Games Trilogy
I chose this due to watching 'The Hunger Games' on DVD and being so caught up in the story/characters that i wanted to know. And the books exceeded my expectations. They are undeniably one fo the best stories I have read for a very long time! I shan't go in to details as I am sure many better reviewers have already sung their praises. Suffice it to say that I suspect i shall be ordering a replacement set in the not too distant future as this one is beginning to show the wear and tear of return reading! As for this particular product...1. It arrived safely, well-packaged and in good time.2. It is not a 'Boxed Set'... it is 3 books that are wrapped by a piece of thicker paper/card to bundle them together but there is no box!! Do not expect to be able to store them safely using the cover, it is no real protection at all.3. As a set, with their corresponding covers they will grace a bookshelf... but if you love the stories as much as I do, they will rarely sit on any shelf for long. Hope this is helpful.

An excellent read
Bought when it was £4.99 for the paperback set it was excellent value for money. As for the books themselves I found myself reading into the early hours because they were to me, one of those books that are hard to put down. The story line is covered by others here but it is essentially set in a future where the majority work in impoverished circumstances to supply an elite. A past rebellion was crushed and the annual hunger games were devised as a reminder to the "people" of who is in control. A girl with no agenda to rebellion acts in an unselfish way to survive having volunteered to replace her younger sister originally drawn from the lottery to be in the games (which are played to the death of all but the winner). This stirs the underlying districts into a new rebellion. Plenty of action flows evenly from the well written books and the story evolves in a very plausible way.An excellent read!
