a good value as a used purchase

This is one helluva great series. As far as modern horror comics go, most don't do much for me. I think they are more about shock content and let's see how far i can go before someone puts on the brakes. Not like the horror comics from the 50s 60s and 70s that relied on great artwork and story telling. This is more along those lines. Yes there are some terrifying moments but the writing is so good and the artwork is perfect, that's what makes it a fantastic horror tale. This is one I didn't want to see come to an end. Stories like this are few and far between. Its one of those that stays with you long after you have finished it. 5 stars for this one

This was devoured in less than a day; happily so. Jeff Lemire has impressed me greatly with his SF writings so I knew Gideon Falls was a must-read. Yet, I hesitated for a while since I avoid the horror genre in general, but that turned out to be completely needless. This is a well crafted story with a genuine build-up of suspense and, for me, many ingenious elements and twists. The artwork is pitch perfect for the mood and the complex imaginings of Lemire. Book Two can’t come out soon enough.Packaging by Amazon was the typical under-padded oversized box. Surprisingly, no bent corners, but that is purely due to dumb luck.

This story will get you hooked, wanting to see what’s going to happen next. Great unique art. My only problem is that the story can be read really quick.

This is a perfect example of an exotic supernatural or science fiction mystery that slowly reveals what is actually happening and… once you find out what is really happening it becomes silly. Like air slowly being let out of a balloon or the last season of Lost. Sorrentino keeps you going with eye popping art and design. Lemire really struggles as things go on to never explicitly have any character say what is happening because, again, pretty dang silly but does his typically quiet brilliant Lemire character work. This is why David Lynch never wanted to explain anything in Twin Peaks.

Lemire and Sorrentino combine to tell a compelling story with engaging artwork.Easily one of my favourite horror comics the past few years.Would like to have seen extra content for what is described as a deluxe edition, simply collects issues 1 -16.A welcome edition for those who missed it at the time. . .Roll on Volume 2.

Great book

Zuerst sei gesagt, dass die vorliegende Geschichte fantastisch erzählt von Lemire und meistervoll inszeniert wurde von Sorrentino. Enthalten sind hier Gideon Falls #1-16 und ein paar sehr schick anzusehende Variant Cover + ein Blick hinter die Kulissen der Entstehung dieses modernen Klassikers.Warum nur 4 von 5 Sternen? Das Buch besteht gefühlt nur aus Double Page Spreads mit fantastischen Layouts, das Binding jedoch ist wirklich nur zweitklassig. Viele der Doppelseiten kommen leider trotz des Oversized Formats nicht so gut zur Geltung wie ich es mir erhofft habe. Meines Erachtens nach eine Menge Gutter Loss; das sollte jedem vorher bewusst sein.Hoffentlich wird das zweite/dritte Printing diesen "Fehler" beheben. Es ist traurig, dass dies immer noch ein Thema ist, vor allem bei Comics, die man ja speziell im Oversized Formag kauft, weil man die Art noch besser genießen möchte..Ansonsten eine Kaufempfehlung. Inhalt der Story ist große Klasse.

El precio es competitivo, considerando que es pasta dura peeero el encuadernado no es de muy buena calidad, se siente como si se despegara lentamente cada que pasas las páginas.La historia es interesante, aunque tarda mucho en despegar. Básicamente es Dark con más elementos sobrenaturales.El arte 9 de 10 veces es muy bueno, aunque sufre de el caos propio del surrealismo de la trama (cuesta trabajo entender lo que está pasando) y algunas páginas tienen muy mala cadencia. Los colores son competentes, pero el "entintado" se lleva una tache porque falla en dar profundidad.Le daría 3.5 estrellas, pero no creo merezca 4. Lo recomiendo si ya han leído a Lemire o si les gusta el arte bizarro o macabro, pero no necesariamente es de horror como se autodescribe el material

Enorm knap boek zowel qua binding, tekenwerk en verhaal. Kunstwerkje. Tekeningen lijken soms op werk van Banksy maar dan betaalbaar en zeer groot in aantal. Aanrader.
