Works great
Love this product. The heat is nice and hot and has a timer so you don’t leave it on by accident. Works great for upper back. If you want the whole back I would look into the longer one. Had an issue with the heating element fail after two years but customer service was extremely helpful and was able to get it fixed. Would recommend!

A big, warm hug!
Ever had one of those days when you wake up in the morning and your head already aches and your neck and shoulders have joined forces in making sure that for the rest of the day, you're going to be doing your best 'Quasimodo' impersonation - neck and back hunched over, head locked to one side, rendering you pretty much useless for the day's tasks ahead 🫤 As soon as you put your feet on the floor, your worst fears are realized and you already know people are most likely going to shout "the bells" and " Hey, Quasi, where's Esmerelda?" as you shuffle past - walking into street lights, fire hydrants, doors and people as you can't see straight ahead coz your neck is twisted and your body contorted 😫 The only positive at this point is you don't have to spend too much time wondering what you're going to wear - may as well keep it simple and dress for the part, right? - green tunic, brown tights, teal shoes and a rope belt it is! At the end of the day, you don't have the strength in your body to turn on the faucet and soak the aches away. By this time, the pain has intensified, and the nerves and muscles at the base of your neck have jumped on the ol' pain wagon and you resign yourself to the realization that the ol' pain wagon is, in fact, heading for the river and for the rest of the night you're gonna be sailing up a certain creek without a paddle! Ha! Enter the Comfytemp Heating Pad for neck and shoulder. Man! This is amazing! And, without sounding like some corny chat up line, the first time I used it, I actually said out loud "where have you been all my life?" (Admittedly at this point, my sanity could be questionable as I'm openly admitting to talking to an electronic heat pad! 🥴) Talk about a game changer! The pad is weighted and really works. It's a soft, smooth material which really adds to the quality. There are several heat settings from 1 to 9 - I found 6 is comfortable for me. There's a timer you can control, but I leave it on long enough until I feel the pain and tension ease. There's also an extended power chord which means I can plug it into the wall socket when I'm in bed or sitting on the sofa and I don't have to lean to one side when it's in operation. I have to be honest and say it's great value for money - money well spent for the relief it gives. It's incredibly easy to use, and is adjustable in sizing - there's an extension on the cape included, but I find the closest fitting works best around my neck without feeling I'm choking. There's also a part on the cape that actually covers the base of your neck - great addition! It's both soothing and relaxing. Honestly, it's like getting a big, warm hug from a big, fuzzy cuddle monster! ( yeah, ok, I'm over-emphasizing, but you get my drift) I can't recommend it highly enough! Anyone wanna buy a gently used green tunic with brown tights, teal shoes and a rope belt?? 😉

Soft and comfy
Feels nice and it’s ok for the price. I do wish it was a little heavier and a little bit longer but the warming function is excellent, it heats up quickly and it’s nice and soft.

9 levels of heat!
I’ve tried a few of these and this one has the best heat. I like it hot and level 9 is very hot. It feels like the heat loses its potency after an hour or so but it works better than any others I’ve used. The material is comfortable, the cord is pretty long and it’s weighted nicely.

So glad I bought it!
So glad I bought this. I'd been sitting on it for some time thinking about it, but with how bad my shoulder and neck pain can be, I thought 'why wait any longer? What's there to think about?' and bought it. The settings for heat levels are great, and the remote is extremely easy, and the digital screen is clear. You can time your heating from 30mins - 6hrs, and as it's one of counts down your time. The cord is also nice a long, considering, so it can reach an outlet that isn't close to you. One thing I will say is I'm a smaller person (5'2) and the size is rather big for someone my size, but it still sit comfortably. The neck flap part of it doesn't heat up, so that's disappointing, but the rest of it is great!

Big issues in function but great when it works... if you bother to work around them
EDIT: Bumped up from 2 stars to 3 because of the quality of customer support. They reached out after only a couple days after my review. Not only did they offer me a refund, but they directly referenced an issue I'd mentioned and said they would "communicate with the product department to inspect" and resolve the issues. Given how many companies would typically provide an uncustomized scripted response with no intention of improvement communicated, this one stands out in that regard and is something I'd want to support as a consumer in the future. First, things I wish I'd seen more clearly from reviews about its design: - the heat does not reach the neck. While there may be some coils on the back of the neck portion, they in no way heat enough to matter, nor would that heat radiate to other parts of the neck. I personally need heat at the back of the neck and on the trap/scalene portion and could only achieve this by draping the product over on its side. You'd be better off with a heated blanket - a feature I thought would be a big plus was the weightedness for heat distribution. I don't see how it helped at all. There was no significant weight to keep the heat against the skin, so I ended up always repurposing my rice socks to anchor it to my shoulders. This got hella tedious and frustrating, as getting them to balance or falling off with any adjustment just adds to the tension pain I'm trying to aleve. - the back portion is not long enough. I'd hope to get my neck and down my scapula in one go and could not. Again, better off with a reliable heated blanket For the actual heating quality, I can see why the ambivalent reviews are so conflicting: Regarding those complaining about it burning or getting too hot: The unit itself does not at all get to a burning heat on its own. However, while I cannot confirm that this is what the reviewers did, I absolutely could see this product become fire-catching hot if it is in any way folded onto itself. On levels as low as 4, if parts of the product overlapped, it would get very hot. I used this to my advantage for the not-hot-enough issue. For those who say it doesn't get hot enough, i absolutely see why. I've tried to use this product thoroughly but it repeatedly has the same issue: it randomly stops heating, it's maddening! The timer can be set to maximum, and no matter the heat level, it randomly stops conducting heat. No change in position, no bend in the coils, nothing unplugged, nothing turned off. I thought maybe my skin was just getting acclimated to the heat, but nope, feeling it with any other area confirmed that it was not warm. What's interesting is that it resumes the heat when you turn it up, until it stops again. So every time I use it is been: start at 5, wait for it to cool off, bump to 6, wait, etc until 9, then after that I turn the product off and on again and start from 5 once more. I haven't bothered to time it to see if it's consistent, but it's estimate it as frequently happening after like ten minutes. As you could imagine, this is pretty tedious for what's supposed to help tension. Troubleshooting guide is unhelpful because while, yeah, turn it off and on again works, that shouldn't be the main feature and function and shouldn't be required for every setting. When it did work and I got it to stay in the right places, I was the exact heat I needed. But if you have to use the product with more effort than it's designed to, and you have to readjust a million times to get it to work for you, it's no longer the convenient product you meant to purchase. So I will likely be returning this. If I have to fight to keep it in place against my neck and traps, I may as well just get a blanket version of the same concept that will reliably heat and not require adjustment to get all the right spots at once.
