For the money you should buy this code reader. Great value and works great. I really can't believe how easy it is to use and I wish that I had bought one years ago.

A good basic scan tool for reading check engine light codes to diagnose.

The Ancel AD310 is a little glovebox-friendly code reader that delivers on its basic promises: reading engine and emission codes. It's also made properly and ergonomically. That said, here are its pros and cons I noticed as a DIY mechanic. Pros 1. Built properly and will likely stand the test of time. 2. While the display is basic black and white, it's offered in a manner that is pleasing to the eyes. 3. A small size helps the code reader fit into gloveboxes and center consoles, even for small vehicles. 4. A code library helps with strange codes & 5. There's the live data function, which, though limited, is great for DIY tasks, especially for the home mechanic. Cons 1. The keypad is non-intuitive and needs getting used to. 2. Codes aren't explained. You'll need search engines to understand some, if you're not a professional. 3. Options like the Auto VIN feature are missing. There's a workaround for this, though. Summary The code reader connected with Asian, American, and most vehicle types, including German vehicles I tested it on. It also read the codes and deleted the same at my instance. Going with the build quality, I'm sure it will last a while. However, I'm giving it 4 stars because it skipped some basic options like a color display and a comprehensive code library. If these aren't issues for you, it's hard to get a better code reader at the price point of the AD310.

My car keeps popping a dummy light because there is some rust on my catalytic converter, no holes or punctures ot leaks, so my mechanic recommended I get a diagnostic machine to clear the code whenever the service engine soon light comes on and it's the pulling the converter's code. It came on once in the past two months and this diagnostics machine was so easy to use. I was easily able to connect it to my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, followed the instructions, it scanned quickly and read the code, I confirmed the code is the converter and was able to clear it so I'm not being plagued by that dashboard light over nothing. Simple and compatible with mine and my husband's vehicles. This tool is great to keep in your glove box so you know when you need to worry and when not to!

Very happy with this code reader. One of the best I have used for the price. My old Autel code reader stopped connecting to my OBDII, and I was worried my OBDII port had gone bad, but this reader worked without issue. I also really like the live data information. Very helpful in my LS swap build.

My daughter has a 2007 Subaru and we learned that if the check engine light is on, the cruise control is disabled. While we've had a lot of things fixed on her car, the O2 sensors never work for long so her check engine light is always on. So she never has cruise control that works. She drives back and forth from her college almost once per month which is 3.5 hours away and not having cruise control sucks... She had been disconnecting and reconnecting her battery for the last year every time she's make the trip....and then it dawned on me that we might be able to reset/erase her codes with one of these. When I say this is so easy and I wish we'd thought of it sooner...I mean it is SO easy. We got in the car, it wasn't even hard to find where or how to plug it up. It powered on, we got to the Erase Codes page and ..low and behold.....one click of the button and her check engine light is off and her cruise control is back! Works perfectly and is easy to use!
