Must. Read.
This is not my normal genre, but maybe it should be. I loved this story. A little Christmas magic in the air. Great characters. And funny! Such a great feel-good read. I don't normally give five stars but this one had me smiling too much not to do so.

Good Holiday Read
This was an enjoyable, quick holiday read! Very cute! Enjoyed the characters, learned about Edinburgh (a city I’ve never been to or read much about but now would love to visit), and found the bookshop very intriguing!

The Christmas Bookshop
What a delightful and cozy read. Sometimes your family can make you feel like you're like choices are below their standards but do they have life any better than you do?. That's what these characters are about to find out in this cozy heartwarming Christmas story. Enjoyed it.

A decent read
Definitely not one of my favorite Christmas stories but it was decent enough. A bit of a maze in all of the relationships but come together nicely in the end.

Don't give up too early on this book
Don't let the first 30-some pages (pages on my iPad) cause you to stop reading. I disliked the main characters and almost everything about the early part of the book. But after that, I found the story charming and interesting. I gave this only 4 stars because of the beginning; most of the book is a 5.

Excellent!
What an amazing book! Well thought out, entertaining, a few laugh out loud spots, depth with history of Edinburgh thrown in...I was thoroughly charmed. Don't miss it.

heartwarming and funny
This is a coming of age story for a grown up. It did all the things a good book should do- made me root for the heroine, made me want to go visit the place it’s set in, made me smile and made me think about decisions and realisations different characters had. It has subtle messages about moving on in life, getting past our circumstances, bonding with family and understanding fear of failure. A nice romance to round things off..but not the mainstay of the story..a lovely read for the Christmas season if you are looking for a happy ending and a fuzzy feeling.

A sweet holiday story
This was the perfect book to get me in the mood for the holidays. Heart warming and real with just enough romance.

Capturing Christmas Magic
A charming tale filled with holiday cheer and heartwarming moments, 'The Christmas Bookshop' is a delightful read that captures the magic of the season. Jenny Colgan's storytelling shines as she takes readers on a journey of love, friendship, and the power of second chances.

Loved this book, great characters, feel good storyline.
I do enjoy a good Christmas themed book around this time of year. This author is new to me and I’m really happy I decided to buy this on my kindle. It was so enjoyable I’ve actually downloaded the next in the series. So the story is based around Carmen…a thirty something lass whose life hasn’t quite fulfilled her wishes. She loses her job and temporarily moves in with her wealthy, very successful Sister ( they have a fractious relationship) and her nieces and nephew. Her Sister manages to get her a job in an old and very unprofitable book shop. The story is really around how Carmen’s life changes as she builds a relationship with her nieces and nephew and in time her sister whilst trying to turn the fortunes of the book shop around. Obviously there’s also a desperation in Carmen’s mind to meet the perfect guy. The whole story is set in Edinburgh and the descriptions really paint a glorious picture of the beautiful city. I found the characters really easy to invest in. It’s not all slushy, unrealistic romance. It’s more real life and the challenges it throws up. It’s both happy, sad and amusing. I read it really quickly and am now halfway through the next book. I’d definitely recommend it if you like an easy read, good characters and a decent story. Worth every penny.

best Christmas read
Jenny Colgan works her magic again. So glad I treated myself to this and finished it in one night. Perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. And books. Lots of lovely books and family stories

Was Jenny paid by the Edinburgh tourist board?.
It took me a while to get in to this book but it did have its charms - particularly the developing relationship between the heroine and her nieces and nephew. A bit too heavily laden with details about Edinburgh for those who don’t live there and a VERY unlikely denouement stopped me giving it the full 5 stars.
