Thriving with Autism: 90 Activities to Encourage Your Child's Communication, Engagement, and Play

Rooted in Applied Behaviour Analysis
While I have seen that the reviews at the bottom of the page mention ABA, the main description of this book does not mention that this book is rooted in ABA strategies. When receiving the book, there is such a heavy emphasis on ABA that I can only speculate that this was deliberately not mentioned in the description as this may deter customers from buying. I would NOT have bought this book if I knew this in advance as I am fundamentally against the ABA ethos. I'm not saying the book is bad, but I had to give this review because I think it's wrong that there isn't transparency around this given the heated debate around this way of supporting children with autism.

This book is just fantastic.
I have a stepchild who has (as described by school) 'autistic traits', and there is literally a game or more for each and every one of his difficulties. This is like having 90 tools in the tool kit, really easy to understand and genuinely fun and engaging ideas. I think this would be helpful for any child, regardless of autism. I cannot wait to use these to aid the homeschool, a lockdown LIFESAVER!

GREAT! TRUST ME BUY IT!!!
ok, I have a high functioning kid on the spectrum. I know mot all kids can do ALL the activities in this book but, it is an amazing Resource and has helped me provide support outside of ABA and OT for my child. I have a two year old and so far some things we have to do one activity lower or one activity higher. But, 99% of all activities are aged just right for where she is at. Activities are great for NT kids as well. Most activities are fun for all and really in my mommy opinion.. If you have a kid on the spectrum this book is AWESOME.

The VIDEO DEMONSTRATIONS of the Activities in the book took my family to the next level!
My kids and I were so excited when this book arrived because we all knew it meant we had lots of new ideas of fun things we could do together around the house. And I knew I'd be enhancing my kids valuable skills using evidence-based strategies for teaching. This book has adorable pictures and is full of activities that we have never seen before and are super easy to pull-off at home with minimal supplies. My kid's especially liked the "THINK VS SAY" activity. My favorite thing about this book is the author's online eLearning course to supplement it, called Activities-in-Action.com.Katie Cook offers on her website, Autism Therapy Career College, an awesome Thriving with Autism - eCourse and Community. It provides video demonstrations of how to do the activities from the book and gives me a full background on the science behind why these activities work, so I can make-up my own activities using the same strategies. I haven't seen anything like this before. Very cool!
