Vandoren CR803 Bb Clarinet V21 Reeds Strength 3; Box of 10

I started playing clarinet again after a long absence. Over time, if you don't play, your embouchure will weaken and you won't be able to use the same strength reeds as you once did. I used traditional Vandoren reeds, strengths 4-4 1/2 while I was in college. Since restarting my practicing, I tried the 3 1/2 traditional reeds, with them being too hard at first, and now becoming a bit too soft. According to the chart Vandoren provides on its website, the V21 3 1/2 strength reeds are about the strength of a Traditional Vandoren 3. Knowing I wanted something about the same strength or a tad bit stronger than what I was using, I chose the 3 1/2+ V21's, as the Traditional reeds would take at least 21 days to ship! Again, according to the chart, these reeds should be approximately the same strength as the Traditional 3 1/2 reeds, if not a bit softer. They are not. While I love the stability between registers these reeds offer, I find greater resistance with these reeds and a stuffier sound in the lower registers because they are so hard. The upper registers, in contrast, are beautifully articulated. Vandoren representatives, if you're reading this, please rethink your chart on your website so it more accurately reflects the comparative strengths of your reeds. I have listened to others who have reviewed your reeds on YouTube, and many say the same thing: The V21 reeds are stronger than the box indicates. For fellow clarinetists who are buying their first box of these, I strongly encourage you to first purchase one of the samplers Vandoren sells before purchasing an entire box of reeds. Until my embouchure strengthens again, I won't be using these reeds as much as I would have liked.

Je ne suis pas un clarinettiste de talent. juste un amateur à la recherche du son. J'utilise ces anches sur une clarinette Buffet Crampon E13 et un bec Vandoren Black Diamond. je trouve l'ensemble facile à jouer, donnant un son précis, tendu, très agréable. En fait j'ai eu l'impression de tirer de mon instrument de zones cachées que j'ignorais. Et c'était dommage.
