It came with two batteries. I had an old dead battery which I inserted in the third slot and plugged it in. Within an hour I had three good, fully charged batteries ready to use. Good enough!

Got about an hour of video per battery. So that's pretty decent for that price. The battery itself did get a little hot letting it be used straight for an hour.

I ordered these to replace my original Hero5 Black battery. After using both I realized that the battery life seemed questionable so I ran a discharge test and compared to the original battery from about 6 years ago - below are the results. Note all these tests were done with the camera in the same mode (standby with screen on but not recording and while recording keeping the screen on) and using the same charger to get them to full charge.#1 Coolshow batteryIt took 9m 45sec to discharge from 100 to 90% in standby modeIt took 5m 19sec to discharge from 90 to 80% while recording#2 Coolshow battery7m 45sec to discharge 100 to 90% standby4m 49sec to dischage 90 to 80% recordingOriginal GoPro battern from ~6 years ago that has been used regularly14m 20sec to discharge 100 to 90% standby10m 12sec to discharge from 90 to 80%The stronger of these 2 coolshow batteries has a life that is 32% worse than a well used 6 year old GoPro battery.
