Drain without the gargle
The oatey air admittance valve is a great solution for homes with old plumbing. It would have been nearly impossible to plumb a stack vent over the kitchen sink. The Oatey admittance valve installs right off a y pipe. The instructions indicate you need 4" of pipe above the trap. I went approximately 12" up. It will allow for me to replace the valve once its worn out. It has not been currently adopted to the Minnesota plumbing codes.

works very well
It works very well, and if it is for 11/2" to 2", I have read other comments and the 2" adapter works but not for 1" 1/2", it is work for 1"1/2" just that it is inserted in the center which has a re-bar, to hold the 1 1/2" tube, see the attached photos

WILL fit either 1 1/2 inch PVC or 2 inch PVC - ignore reviews that say otherwise
