I couldn't let go.Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Wow! All characters are multi-dimensional with amazing storyline. They are easy to love, connect and understand. We feel their pain and their joy. Valerius has a very painful past and his journey was amazing. Rain, even though she didn't call it love, helps Valerius through caring and loving. So beautiful journey of these two. So many secondary characters, so many different POV. The queen... amazing character. Even in a world of paranormal they felt real, their emotions resonated on the reader.Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, subtitle 5/5, color-font 3/5, buy 5/5 Cover are one of my obsessions. This one has the perfect tilte and subtitle. Great art work, but not so great use of colors. I would buy this book without reading the blurb by just looking at this cover with the catching title.Freshness: Wow! One of the most unusual stories that I have read in the last year. So creative, very well explained and everything believable. Definitely a breath of fresh air!!!Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 4/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 3.5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5 I'm still in shock! Creative, unusual, believable with great subplots and twists. There is a lot of information here, but it flows so well. This story kept me guessing and I've ended wanting more. Really amazing!!!Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 5/5, steam 4/5 Here is the perfect description of how love hurts. Their love journey is not easy, but painful. It was breathtaking at times and very poignant. Rain couldn't recognize love, even when it was biting her; Valerius so afraid from his past. Together they made sense, they healed each other. Very hot with great smut.Writing Style: I'm very impressed. I wasn't expecting any of this. In fact, I had no expectations for this book. Perfect plot with amazing characters and beautiful romance. What else could I want from a book? The writing was cohesive with no loopholes. The plot was fancy and all characters had depth.WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTERI'm out of words. I have no idea. This was very close to perfect.MY THOUGHTSMy first book by Ms. James, definitely not my last. I'm looking forward to reading more of this amazing series.So refreshing to read something new. Really, lately I wasn't reading vampires themed books. They started all to look the same. Ms. James has shaken this theme. She brought a brand new idea, a brand new vampire world. Couldn't put the book down. The characters were great, and fit the story line perfectly. The excitement through out the book was heart stopping. It had me on the edge of my seat. Totally recommend

I am still confused about the subtle & not so subtle biopsychosocial differences between Pure Ones & Vampires. The whole abstinence thing the Pure Ones adhere to is a bit hard to swallow. Do they also abstain from drinking blood too, until they find their mate. Many questions and no answers. I will read the next in the series hoping that more clarity is infused into the world building and more depth into the characters. I could feel nothing for the deaths of certain characters because I never was given enough information on then to feel grief. Hoping the next book is much better.

Pure Healing by Ava James is another fantastic book. I have read Dark Desires first which showed me the potential of this author and now I am hooked, and it seems she is no one hit wonder! This book is just as unique and different as Dark Desires was and had my attention from the very first page. The plot was intricate and turned this book into one of those that is difficult to put down. There were a few nice twists hidden within and a few secrets that the author did not release the answers to yet, so I have to keep reading this series until I find the answer to them, trust me that won't be a hardship!In this book the author focuses on Rain, the healer of the race, and Valerius. Valerius is an incredibly strong yet also very weak character, which makes him absolutely adorable! The conflict within him is never ending and he struggles to resolve that. Typical caveman style, he does not want any help with it, nor does he know how he could or would ask for help.Thankfully Rain is not your average healer and has been around the block once or twice, plus she is rather persistent or some may say stubborn. She is a very strong female lead in this story and I really enjoyed learning about her characterThe author packs a lot into her books. There is a lot of plot going on as well as a lot of character development which is a amazing! Plus she sure knows how to pack in the steam, and trust me there is a good amount of that going on as well! All in all I admit I am hooked and will continue reading more of this series. You can't go wrong with this series since it has it all, plot, uniqueness, romance, steam and interesting characters!

Definitely worth the read! Can’t wait to read the rest!! Great characters, each with their own stories to tell-which by the way I can’t wait to do & brilliant storytelling & fairly good though basic sex scenes.

This series is contemporary paranormal romance  with quite a bit of spice, this one is the milderso far, that also explore the past of the characters, that often goes back millenia. There are 2 races the pure and the dark ones, (also known  as vampires). That have been in stale war for millenia.  The main difference between both races is that the pure ones can't have sexual  relationships with other than their fated mate or they will experience a painful death within 30 days. I have to say that this premise felt a bit force for me at the beginning but when you keep reading it starts to make sense.Every book tell the story of a couple while exploring the main plot, with a mysterious villain. This book starts with the story of Rain, the pure healer that is the only exception to the rule of no sex, as every 10 years she have to mate with a male to replenish her energy with their blood to be able to keep healing. And Valerius a romman gladiator. Their story is hard and beautiful, and the characters are lovely and relatable, and I am obsess with them. and to be honest the book reads itself. There is a lot of world building in this book so it is slower  the the nexts ones, but still flow great.Warning, There are escenes of sexual abuse, rape and slavery. So be aware of this and don't read if you thing this will be a trigger for you.

I am disappointed as I don't recall seeing any warnings in the description about this book containing very explicit content. I downloaded this book expecting a fantasy book but this was more along the lines of erotica. After reading several chapters, I had to delete the book. Glad that this was free.

It's a big world, lots of names, phrases and skills to keep up with.I am not entirely sure what I think about this series. Some parts I feel are a bit confusing, I felt I didn't get enough answers until the end.I am still kit entirely sure what is going on in relation to vampires, pure ones, horse, assassins and so forth. They all seem to be connected, and for most of the book until the end really I had no idea how a Pure One soldier was actually made.Iwe do find out, but I do wish it was at least hinting towards it earlier.I was recommended this series because I'm a big fan of J. R Ward, but I have to say that I don't really find that many similarities. I found the worlds to be vastly different.That's not to say I dony like this world Aja James has created, it's just very very different from what I have ever read.I'm going to continue though since I feel that this first book was a huge introduction and there is lots more to learn and stories to tell.The writing is very good though. I found it easy flowing, just enough filler. The sex is hawt, it's got heartwreching-pulling your insides out- feels, but it's also got love. So much love, and not just between the main couple.
