Fantastic device for accurate medication doses
I bought this for my dad, who has dementia, because he started running out of his pills in his pill box that I filled weekly. It has been very stressful and worrisome. He only lives a mile from us, and spends all day with us, he still had access to his medication. This is perfect! I wish I'd have known about this for the last year! I fill it for 2 weeks, pills am and pm. The alarm goes off and the light flashes until he tips the handle towards him. It will go off for an hour, which gives him enough time to get them. We don't have to worry anymore about him taking double doses of pills or forgetting to take them. I keep it locked and he can't open it. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a loved one with memory loss , dementia, or is having a hard time keeping track of their medication doses.

Best device on the market for aging adults who have Dementia and/or Vision Loss
I bought this device for my 85 year old mother who has Alzheimer's disease and Macular Degeneration. So, she has no short term memory and cannot see well. She had been in rehab for 5 wks prior to coming home and had also lost some physical strength and dexterity in her hands and fingers. I needed a device that didn't require memory, knowledge of date or time, an auditory alarm but NO buttons to press to turn off an alarm, no requirement to open or close plastic pill containers, no small text that says doses (i.e. morning, lunch, dinner, evening). And this device works perfectly. It requires no vision to read or interaction with text or numbers or buttons, it has a large manual handle that simultaneously thru tipping it shuts off the alarm, the pills go into a large aluminum container, which make an auditory cue as to what's happening (pills going into container). I 100% recommend this for anyone who's trying to help an aging parent stay home with may have dementia and/or vision loss. She has taken her meds with 100% accuracy since the day i put it in her house. I've watched her (initially) try to open it in all the wrong days and it just doesn't allow it. It's bullet proof. There is only one thing to do with this machine, which is tip it to dispense meds. Excellent design for a growing customer base of aging people with Alzheimer's and/or vision loss. Can be a big help, but beware of potential pitfalls.
Can be a big help, but beware of potential pitfalls. The pull handle works fine if you use the exact tilting motion that it's designed for. But if you pull it towards you, it will not move. My 88-year-old MIL bent the arm trying to make it work. Limited success there. Also, if your loved one forgets to put the metal cup back, you have another problem on your hands. Lastly, your loved one should be only moderately "forgetful" at best and able to understand basic mechanical directions. My MIL is too far gone for this device to possibly help her. She doesn't understand what the beeping alarm means and she's not at all mechanically inclined. I still think this is a fine device for most cases, but it doesn't work everyone (nothing does). I wish better luck for other buyers as this gizmo does exactly what is intended.

Has a serious design flaw
First, the company gave me good customer service and a prompt refund. The machine broke the 4th time we unlocked it. With a background in engineering and design, we analyzed the problem. The locking mechanism looks sturdy from the exterior, but the key drops into a 1/4" metal disc set into a flimsy piece of plastic. Even with careful use, the key promptly snapped the plastic, and my elderly mother was unable to access her meds on the next distribution scheduled. We had to pry the top off with a screwdriver. This company makes many different dispensers, but I do not know about the construction of the other models. So, if you buy this one, you would have to be able to live close enough to pry the lid off. Also, my mom's hearing is quite good, and she was unable to hear the bell every time. Great looking, but not well designed.

Not good for someone who should not have access to his/her pills prior to the scheduled time as it is very easy to manipulate the dispenser.Handy for someone who just needs a reminder.
