Have to use your factory clips
I have a 2010 JK, so not sure if my experience will be the same for you. This aftermarket cover would not clip into place until I removed the factory cover’s clips and put onto this aftermarket cover. It then snapped into place and held. I do not like the spring load-type clip but it works and held both my I-12 and S9. They both stayed in place. The phones had a lot of vibration to them, so I went with a bar-type holder that was $70. I had to go back to the original cover and remove this aftermarket cover completely. I have tried several phone holders in the past two years and really like the bar-type holder the best. It can hold 2 phone and a dash cam, and there is no vibration. The extra cubby area in this aftermarket holder to place things would have been nice IF it had worked for me.

Get what you pay for
I was really excited when I got it because there really isn’t a great place to put your phone. So I look at a couple and went with this one. First you have to change out the clips with you factory one ( not a big deal just don’t break them when trying to get them off ) Second I was forever tighten the holding bolt . I finally tore it out and found a nut and used an Allen key to tighten now it’s good. The reason I gave a not so good review is when you buy something you shouldn’t have to modify it to work. If you do these two thing it will work great.

Difficult but successful installation
1st Review:I need help. My item doesn't sit on the designated place. It fits properly from the front, but when I push it down to lock in place the clips don't hold. Idk if maybe I have a faulty item. Could someone get in contact with me? I really want this to work.2nd Review:I ended up using Loctite PL Premium Construction Adhesive (available at home depot) so that the mount stays in place. It looks and works great! It fits my Galaxy Note20 5g which says its 3.03 inches wide. I suggest also gluing the screw as well, I feel it's too short and the phone holder part would unscrew and pop off.

Great Idea, poor execution.
It's a great idea in theory and could be a great item except that the arm to mount your phone or device is held on by some random 3rd piece that has to be installed so the turn screw has something to attach to. The whole thing seems like it was an afterthought made from spare parts. The screw that is supposed to be attached to the dial knob that would allow you to remove the arm and install say a go pro mount or dash cam falls out. I needed to glue it in place to make it useful and not just fall back through the dial wheel into the opening. If it falls through then you will need to remove the whole tray to retrieve it.
