Bravissima !
If you’ve never been to Italy this wonderful book will take you there in the blink of an eye/turn of a page and will make you long to book flight and accommodation (once it’s safe to do so). The blurb on the Amazon page states: this wonderful story brings you sunshine, wine, sizzling sensuality and fabulous food. I wouldn’t disagree with that. Under the Italian Sun has a wonderful sense of place and the reader’s five senses are more than catered for. I haven’t visited Italy for many a long year, but the setting came to life through the pages of the novel reminding me how much I loved the country and its people. Okay, enough of the travelogue, let me mention plot, characterisation and pace. As one would expect all of the above are handled skilfully by Ms Moorcroft who had a deft touch, balancing romance with wider issues such as mental health, traditional values, what parenthood really means. We root for Zia and worry about what she might discover about her heritage and if it would send her scuttling back to her ex, Brendon. I loved her friendship with Ursula who was exactly what Zia, a little naive at times, needed to keep her focused on why she was in Italy. The chemistry between Zia and Piero is deftly handled with just the right amount of heat. Once I got to know them better I longed for a happy ending. If you’ve read One Summer in Italy you’ll find this the perfect companion read. Highly recommended and just what I needed during lockdown.

Great page turner with Italian landscapes, possibly slightly predicable but these are my favourite kinda books.

What a lovely story, of someone trying to find their heritage . Based in the UK and Italy.I loved the way the story encompassed all aspects of life, but through it all love conquers all. Thank you for a great story.

Lovely heartwarming story
Zia’s on a mission to find out the truth about her mother and who her father is & with her friend Ursula they go to Italy , I loved reading about Italy as I have never been , I could imagine the secenery , the houses , flowers , smells of the food and sitting out at night with a cool drink relaxing under the stars . I was immediately taken with Lucia and Durante what a lovely caring kind couple , imagine what fun you could have with them . ,I liked reading about the relationship building between Zia & Piero with hope that they would find a way to be together & Zia would find happiness again , I noticed that Sue put in Piero was a follower like her of formula one & I secretly hoped he was a fan of another sexy Italian a reason to go to Italy for , Valentino Rossi . Such a a great story loved all the characters, well done Sue

A holiday in your armchair - drop in and enjoy!
I was quickly addicted to this book by the wonderful description of this part of Italy and its warm characters. I can see it all still in my imagination. I did find myself nipping off for snacks whilst I read as the food sounded so lovely. I also got a sense of the turmoil one must feel not knowing who a parent was. The anticipation and disappointment was very moving to read and share with the character. I didn’t want the story to end I enjoyed it so much. Please give us a follow up as there are some great characters there!

Glorious!
Much more than a taste of Italy, this wonderful story brings you sunshine, wine, sizzling sensuality and fabulous food - what’s not to love? Zia’s search for her family and the secrets that surround her past is intriguing. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader wondering if Zia will be able to reconcile herself to what happened to her mother. With a setting that moves between Brighton and Umbria and a fine cast of characters, this is a story that will linger in your mind for a long time (and make you wish you were on that terrace on a hot Italian summer’s evening with a glass of something delicious in your hand, and olives and crusty bread on the table!)

The Perfect Summer Read
Wonderful armchair travel. Lots of secrets and sizzling romance and drama. The heroine goes through a journey of self discovery and I enjoyed the whole process with the host of interesting characters. I love Sue Moorcroft's books and I believe this was her best so far.
