What types of items do you test for pets?

We test 300 items which include most proteins, fruits, vegetables, grasses, trees, preservatives, grains, etc. We took most of the ingredients found in dog and cat foods and applied what we could to our list.

What is the difference between “allergy” and “intolerance”?

Some of the symptoms of allergies and intolerances are the same or similar, but the differences between the two are very important. 5Strands® Affordable Testing only tests for “intolerances”, which represent the majority of reactions. An intolerance is a response that does not take place in the body’s immune system and may appear several hours or days after ingestion or exposure. Some of the most common known food allergens are peanuts, tree nuts and seafood. 5Strands® Affordable Testing does NOT test for this type of reaction IgE allergies, which represents only 2% of all allergic/intolerance reactions. The best way to prevent reactions to intolerances is to identify and avoid foods and substances that trigger them. This is the job of 5Strands® Affordable Testing.

What does each level stand for? The level of severity? So level 3 being in red being most likely?

Each level is the severity with red being the most troublesome. Think of it as being a stop light ... red - stop and make corrections, yellow use caution and green might be a future issue,
