MC1 it's not a Theory it's an M.2 Heatsink
What can we say about a piece of metal and some thermal pads?,Not alot because it works it perfectly for a PS5 or PS5 Pro and you can even out the PS5 silver M.2 bay over on top of it because it fits perfectly in the Playstation 5/Pro,Right let's talk about the quality of the MC1,It's black....it's metal.... it's got thermal cooling pads for your M.2 ssd, It's easy to put your M.2 drive in because the MC1 is actually two pieces of metal with a screw and includes a screw driver to secure the two parts of the heatsink easily enough,My advice would be use the bottom part of the MC1 then place your M.2 drive inside and make sure you have enough of the connecter out of the MC1 so it can fit in your Playstation 5, Then put the top part on the bottom bit of the MC1 and you are good to go,Remember to remove the plastic from the Thermal pads so your M.2 ssd can touch the thermal pads,Then just tighten the screws to secure everything,How good is the cooling?,That depends on a few things,In a pc you need some airflow in the case to push the heat out of said pc case, On a motherboard with M.2 slots normally they come with their own metal heat sink,If your motherboard supports M.2 slots but didn't come with any heatsink then this MC1 is for you,It works well for any PCIE 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0 M.2 ssd drives,Just know that airflow in a case is very important to move hot air out and pull in cool air,Now for the Playstation 5,I would say a heatsink is essential really to prolong the life of your ssd in the console,Because the Playstation 5 doesn't have much airflow to it's M.2 bay, Using a heatsink would help cool the ssd and dissipate heatsink from the memory chip and ssd chip controller,Positives+ A simple box that opens to a well packaged heatsink,+ Easy to assemble,+ Comes with Screws and Screw driver,+ It fits in a PS5 and Slim / Pro M.2 bay that you can also put the sliver M.2 bay cover back on so you don't lose it,+ looks nice and you see the cooling fins and where the heat is moving to,+ The Themal pads are very good quality,Any negatives you might ask?,Honesty at £10 to £15 for the MC1 is a good price from a top tier brand but if I have to be that Fox.....So here we go with hypothetical negatives,- You can't in 2026 buy any M.2 ssd in any decent sizes such as 2tb at any decent price and if you can't buy an M.2 ssd then you won't buy this quality heatsink,- Sometimes the prices fluctuate for no apparent reason by £5 to £10 more,Final summary,If buy some miracle in 2026-27 you can get an M.2 at a reasonable price and need a heatsink this Be Quiet! MC1 Is for you,It looks nice but can you admire it's beauty when it's deep inside your Playstation 5 or PC?, Or if you were extremely lucky on steam.... A Steam Machine?,Obviously not but it's worth it as it's a heatsink that does cooling quite well in both the Playstation 5 and PC,For Playstation 5 you only really see anything temperature increases when you are writing data to the M.2 ssd, Due to the lack of airflow in the M.2 bay I would still suggest you add a heatsink to help cool down that rare thing.... an M.2 ssd in 2026,For PC this is where it all depends on if your motherboard came with a heatsink for it's M.2 slots, If your motherboard manufacturer supplied you one just use that and save yourself £10-15,If they didn't give you one, Then this Be Quiet! MC1 is for you,However Be Quiet! Have the MC1 Pro.... that has actual copper heat pipes inside for a little bit more so thay may help with 1c to 3c more cooling, But the pro version is slightly different in height so the Pro Version won't fit in the Playstation 5 due to the height difference,Technically it will fit in the PS5 but you just can't close the PS5 silver m.2 bay cover on top of the MC1 pro version (So just stick with the MC1 version not the Pro for the Playstation 5)To state the obvious,The MC1,It's a heatsink that works,It does it job and the thermal pads are very good quality,For £10-15,You can't go wrong for the price,A good price from a well known European company that has a history in cooling components,I've personally had this MC1 with a 4tb PCIE4.0 drive since late 2024,Thought I would let people know that after two years,It still works and still cools the M.2 drive inside my Playstation 5,I've included two Pictures,One of the heatsink with an M.2 ssd attached so you have an idea of how far the m.2 connectors should be out,So that it's easy to slot into a PS5 or PC with no issues,The other Picture is what it looks like in a Playstation 5 M.2 bay,Most likely is final resting place until the PlayStation 6 is released hopefully Sony let's use use PCIE4.0 drives in the PS6,Because I don't want to even think about the cost of an M.2 PCIE6.0 ssd drive next year or in 2028,It's not going to get better any time soon,If you need a heatsink then you can't go wrong at it's reasonable cost,Hopefully this review has been of some help to you,

Better quality than other cheap heatsinks
What a nice product. Easy to follow instructions and screwdriver that works for full installation process in a PS5 provided. My Crucial SSD fit perfectly in this, which had no issues fitting in PS5 (and you can replace the PS5 SSD cover on top should you wish to).The screws to secure the heatsink are tiny, but work in a bright environment, and magnetised to provided screwdriver, and you should have no issues. I like that they are packaged in a compartment behind tape, it's little touches like this that make sure nothing goes missing.Drive works OK with no overheating, though I'd expect it to anyway - however other reviews here shows it is effective in keeping temps down. For a similar price to many cheaper products, provided with rubber bands and the like, this is way better and still provided at a good price. Highly recommended.

Great item
Excellent product, easy to put together with my M.2 SSD and appears to be doing the job it's designed for. This is being used inside a PS5 Pro and I haven't had any problems with the SSD.

Looks the part
The heat sync seems solid and easy to fix. However does not come with M2 standoff screw to secure to motherboard. Some motherboards come with clips and or heatsync's, check before you purchase. Just fitted mine and now waiting for the M2 stand off screw to complete job.

Cheap and Effective
Two arrived today and installed on my k8 nucbox. Gen4 nvme went from 70+ degrees to 35-40c and the same for the Gen 3 nvme inside as well. I had some doubts about these as the two NVME drives are side by side and chose these as they were fanless and lock together with small screws. Needless to say I am well impressed with the thermal capacity of these heatsinks. Remember to peel the protective film off them and the notch goes to the screw side of the drive.

Matches black builds really well
Design is unobtrusive, installation is as easy as 4 screws put in.The thermal pads are forgiving, so you don't have to put it on your ssd with 0.1mm precision.Having an NVMe Samsung 980 evo just a slot above a GPU monster made it heat up to ~60 C under full GPU load, with this cooler, you get 55C - that's 5C less. The screwdriver is included, it's fairly neat.MC1 PRO gives you performance of coolding down to 53C, so the price difference is justifiable.PRO versions is a lot thicker but headpipe isn't visible once you put it into motherboard.Handles top-end GPUs well, couples even better with stock/top-down air coolers.

Wonderful Look and materials and it does what it promise at a very affordable price
I recently purchased a new Samsung SSD and I also needed a reliable Cooler. I decided to complete my setup with the be quiet! MC1 SSD Cooler, a product designed to tackle the heating issues of M.2 2280 single and double-sided modules. The brand promises not only enhanced performance but also a seamless integration into any PC build, courtesy of its minimalist design and renowned be quiet efficiency.Upon receiving the package, the first thing that struck me was the attention to detail in the packaging. The cooler was securely encased, with clear instructions ( Even if instructions are really not necessary as there’s only one way to mount it and you cannot do it wrong even if you try :-D ) and all necessary mounting hardware included. The sleek, black design of the cooler itself exuded a premium feel, matching perfectly with my PC's aesthetics. It was love at first sight! So installing the MC1 cooler was a breeze. The build quality was impressive, featuring a solid aluminum heat sink and thermal pads that promised efficient heat dissipation. In terms of performance, the MC1 cooler did not disappoint. I primarily use my setup for gaming and video editing and AI image generations/upsizing etc. , activities that can cause significant SSD heating. Prior to installation, I'd noticed my SSD's performance dipping during extended sessions, likely due to thermal throttling. However, with the MC1 cooler in place, those issues became a thing of the past. My SSD's temperatures dropped significantly, ensuring stable performance even under heavy load. The difference was like night and day, with faster load times and no more fear of data loss or damage due to overheating.Despite all, it's worth noting that its size may pose compatibility issues in tighter builds or when adjacent slots are in use.The peace of mind knowing my SSD is running cool, coupled with the tangible performance improvements, has been a major win.In conclusion, the be quiet! MC1 SSD Cooler has matched my expectations. Its build quality, performance enhancement, and sleek design make it a standout product. While there are minor considerations to keep in mind regarding compatibility and installation, the pros far outweigh the cons. For anyone looking to extend the lifespan of their M.2 SSD and ensure peak performance, I wholeheartedly recommend the MC1 cooler. It's a small investment that delivers significant returns, making it a must-have for any serious PC enthusiast or professional user.
