Waterproof, and fits well
Functions well, the latch slips, so I filed it a little bit. It only works with inserts that do not require the spring catch to operate, so I glued a little divider in the lid. This way my butane insert can operate properly.

Putting a Zippo in Your Suitcase? You Need This!
Okay, I’m going to be honest with you: I really don’t know how tactical this lighter case is. I was in the Army, and we just used to shove our Zippos in the pocket of our fatigues or, later, our BDUs (yep, it was a long time ago), and it didn’t seem to make a difference. I’m not sure our military effectiveness was compromised by not having our lighters be ‘tactical.’ And honestly, the little latch on the open side kind of gets in the way of your thumb when you flick the flint wheel, which you may be able to tell by looking at the picture in the product description where the cap is open. But the ability to use my Zippo tactically, possibly under withering enemy fire, is not why I bought this lighter case. What makes this case useful, in some cases even necessary, is that the FAA says if you’re going to put a fluid-filled lighter (i.e., a Zippo) in your checked baggage you have to have it in an FAA-approved case. This case meets the FAA requirement, and it seems well-made and durable. Oh, sure, you could try to get away with just packing your ‘naked’ Zippo – but don’t expect me to cover for you and say you didn’t know when they come after you. Now that you’ve read this, you can’t un-read it; now you know. So do the right thing; get one of these cases if you’re going to travel with your Zippo; your conscience will rest easier (and I guess we’ll all fly safer – I really don’t know).

Some extra protection
Nice little case to hold a zippo lighter. The only knock is that the latch interferes with a smooth operation of the striker as your thumb will hit the latch preventing a full strike. I originally wanted to use it with my butane zippo but it doesn't fit. Despite the latch issue, with some practice, you can get a flame.

Excellent fuel conservation
I have read the other reviews and can agree with the modest cons. Weak deployment spring, Catch gets in the way of flint wheel etc. I however feel this case performs exceptionally well in one specific area which is what I wanted. Lighter fuel conservation. Upon receipt of the case I installed my Zippo insert and filled it to where it started to drip and closed it up. I checked it after a couple of weeks and still acting overfilled. Few more weeks still very full. I them started checking every week and the lighter was able to light up to 140 days from when I filled it. The very expensive Thrym case didn't last 6 days and at that price point they need to fully redesign. Plastic feels good and sturdy. Happy with purchase.

Lower latch arm inhibits lighter use...
I received mine the other day, and it falls short in a few areas. Most annoying, the latch on the lower case, that reaches up to engage the receiver on the upper case, is exactly in the way of your thumb when you go to use the lighter. It's hard to imagine how this design oversight occurred. I have XL hand size, but I don't think even the thumb in a tiny hand wouldn't be encumbered by this latch. So if you use your thumb to rotate the flint, it's awkward moving it sideways rather than the standard downward motion. This leads, for me, to having to strike it sometimes more than once to get a flame. Another thing, mine doesn't open by spring alone when pressing the latch to release it. I have to use my other hand to open the case. Thereafter it will open by spring alone, but once it sits a few minutes, then it's stuck again, at least for the spring to open it. Maybe that's because, in the one I received, the top is slightly rotated relative to the bottom, when viewed in the short axis. About maybe 1/2 degree it's rotated sideways at the hinge I guess. This can't be fixed w any bending pressure, as the hinges are molded from plastic. So this unit is just always going to be that way. Overall this case has potential as a concept. It looks nice a has a rugged look. But a nearly fatal design flaw exists with the placement of the lower latch arm. And quality control seems poor, as top and bottom of mine don't quite line up.

Great product
Great upgrade from original case. I would have to fill my fluid once a week with original case. I filled the fluid after I got this and it took 6 months for the fluid to run out. This is due to evaporation. Light fluid evaporates very easily. The rubber seal in this case stops this from happening. Very happy with the purchase. I do believe the lid lock needs re designed however. Because it makes it a little difficult to light. I put the internals in backwards and this helped me slightly.

Problème d'ouverture resolu. Le joint fait ventouse et le ressort n'est pas assez puissant pour l'ouverture. Il suffit de limer un peu le crochet de maintien par dessous...
