PetArmor FastCaps (nitenpyram) Oral Flea Control Medication, 25 lbs and Over, 6 count

My almost 2 yr old female German Shepherd which weighs 58 pounds is an outdoor dog during the summer months she broke out with fleas and would itch constantly. Her Vet recommended a Rx for flea treatment which would of been for 3 months for $124.00 a relative of mine recommended this particular brand for PetArmour FastCaps and said it was very effective and working for her dog. I decided to try it on my German Shepherd. I knew she would not eat the tablet so I hid it in her food to make sure she would ingest it. Afterwards I observed her for about an hour and I noticed she no longer was itching then 2 weeks later I gave her another tablet and within a couple of weeks she is "free from fleas" I am so happy with this treatment! It is so much more affordable then any other treatment from the Vet and has been very effective against fleas. I must say my dog did not have ticks so I can't say if it is effective towards ticks but it sure has made my fur baby happy and much more comfortable by eliminating the fleas. From now on, I will only purchase this treatment for my dog.

I had started giving these to my 13 yr old dog back at the beginning of summer. Throughout the summer our dog seemed to be getting weak in his back legs. We just marked this up to his old age and had limited concern because he was still running around the yard and was playful, we only noticed difficulty in him going up and down stairs. I periodically gave these to him through the summer (a lot of times even when he was itching bad but I didnt see any fleas) and last week he was still running in the yard and playing. We left to go on vacation for a week and I gave him a pill after his bath before we left him. My friend that was watching him texted me and said that our dog was really weak in his hind legs and was having trouble up and down our steps. When we came back and saw that our dog was suddenly really "swaying" his back legs and almost scissoring them when he walked (Ataxia). He struggled to get up from a laying position. I researched his symptoms and thought maybe with his age it was Degenerative Myelopathy, but his symptoms had come on suddenly in 2 days, more like neurological symptoms. I had remembered giving him a pill the day before we left and began to research and saw that there are many cases of flee meds causing this. We contacted our vet and we have him on anti-inflammatory for the next 10 days to see if that will help him. Today(9/21/18) I see the FDA has issued warnings for a flee pill that contains isooxazoline that can cause these same symptoms. This product shows it uses nitenpyram instead as the active ingredient but I would be wary of giving this to your pet because these ingredients are both in the same family of poisoning fleas. FYI there is no way of reversing Ataxia in our pet now, we can only hope the condition does not get worse.

This is an excellent product to start a regimen to rid your pet of fleas. Our area of Texas had a particularly bad Spring with an infestation of fleas in the open areas. Keeping fleas off our dog became a serious problem because we cannot use chemicals on his skin. He has an allergy to flea bites that cause him to scratch/bite incessantly - the poor dog doesn't get sleep and neither do I worrying about fleas in the house. Solution found: I give him a fastcap that starts working within 30 to 45 minutes. The fastcap starts the process of killing fleas on him and continues up to 24 hours. It does not purport to be more than a one day fix for fleas, giving a jump start on an anti-flea regime. For my dog, he is finally able to sleep that night. The following day I bathe him with a Natural Flea & Tick Shampoo Bar for dogs. This has natural oils in it that help to repel fleas and ticks. My dog and me have our regimen that works for us - thanks to FASTCAPS and Wondercide Natural Products Shampoo Bar.

These definitely work! Piles of dead fleas on bed where dog was lying after a few hours of taking medication. I followed directions and gave with full meal. Dog wouldn't eat this pill alone but did eat it when I put it inside a small piece of bread. The pills are large size. Dog didn't show any signs of illness, vomiting, etc. The effect did not seem to last the full 24 hours (fleas seen on dog late at night after treatment in the morning), but once-a-day treatment for a week, then once every 2-3 days for another few weeks, plus treating house and treating dog with other kind of flea control (the one that prevents development of flea eggs that is given once per month) finally eradicated the fleas completely! Don't do what I did when beginning the battle against the fleas and only get monthly egg-development prevention for one pet in multi-pet household. Treat all pets simultaneously with monthly anti-flea treatments and these fast caps to make faster headway, and clean/treat house/property (make sure everything is pet and people safe), especially bedding (wash, wash, wash, vacuum, vacuum, vacuum). Does not work as well as Capstar, but it does work fairly well. This is not intended for full time flea control, just to knock down the fleas that are on the dog right now. Still need to use other products to KEEP the fleas off the dog, and to kill flea larvae, treat their bedding, carpets, etc. Otherwise, the fleas will just jump right back on them after the 24 hours are over.I like to use this once a month when the topical flea stuff starts to wear off and I see my dog start scratching again. I give her one of these to kill everything that is on her, give her a bath, and then reapply the topical stuff the next morning to cover her for the next month.. This routine keeps her flea-free and happy.
