LET'S DO IT AGAIN

Am gonna be the wet blanket here but I find this CD a bit odd and certainly a disappointment when you look her debut album almost four years ago. "A Change Gonna Come" got everyone so so excited and rightly so! It seemed like the second coming of a powerful, almighty vocalist risen from the depths of Soul Music itself. Remember "Soul Food" "Ghetto" and her cover of "A Change Gonna Come" it blew everyone away. So what happened? A cover album as a follow up? mmm, I don't know about this, must've been tough trying to follow a phenomenal debut like that. But hey, it's not a total loss, it's actually a good cd to listen to because she has this really cool, strong soulful voice that this album can stand on its own, in that case it should really have four stars, but I have to stay with my rating because I think she could've done a much better follow up. The standout is her interpretation of Foriegner's "I want to know what love is" is sooo right on! Forget Foreigner, Leela's version is it. Moderately recommended, if you don't have her debut "A Change Gonna Come," you must have it. It's a much better representation of her.

A truly "old school" tribute of great R&B, Soul, & Rock & Roll, Funk....can't go wrong with this album. Only Leela James's voice can pull off these great hits! I burned a copy that I keep in my car multi cd player, for the "dropping my hardtop convertible days and nights." I'm in my mid 40s, so I appreciate genuine talented artists who do not rely on "autotunes and voice knob turning" to make great music. It's fantastic to listen to upcoming or established "new millenium" artists with voices that gives my generation and older a reason to love "old school" music. Leela's covers of the Rolling Stones's, "Miss You," James Brown's, "It's A Man's World," Betty Wright's, "Clean Up Woman" are phenomenal....just naming a few. Again ALL the songs are great!

A very good album

I bought this CD to add to my collection of GREAT R&B.I am very happy with this purchase.The CD arrived in great shape and timely.Will order again.

Like most when I heard Leela was doing a cover's project I wasn't thrilled. Until I heard the samples. Then I became a little more excited. I love her first effort and also love this one. In my opinion, Leela James did covers well. fav songs on the project are Baby I'm scared of you,I Try, I'd rather be with you" Boosty Collins" not George Clinton, let's do it again, and of course Simply Beautiful. Nice job now for the next c.d let's come with orginals

I just don't know why this young lady is not on the Beyoncé level she has a awesome voice. They say because Beyonce is an entertainer. BUT, LEELA CAN REALLY SANG!!!! PLEASE PLEASE MUSIC INDUSTRY TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THIS WOMAN. MY NAME IS GISELLE... PEOPLE TAKE A LOOK AT LEELA JAMES SHE IS THE BOMB!! DAMN

I will continue to look for any Leela James music but, I was a little disappointed with this CD. She is much better when she creates her own music. I did not enjoy this offering because it was all cover songs. The only song I truly enjoyed was the funky offering "I'd rather be with you". by Bootsy Collins. My advice is to download this song and leave the rest alone.

etwas komerzieller als ihre erste Scheibe aber auch nach dem zweiten Malhören findet man immer wieder Neues, typisch Leela James, nette Coverversion eines alten Klassikers dabei,für mich der weibliche Geheimtip, tolle Scheibe!

輸入盤から遅れること1年、ついに待望の日本盤のリリース！DJ SPINNAのリミックスとPV2曲目的で購入しました。Dvaey DリミックスのBaby I'm Scared Of Youもとてもよかったし、日本盤のジャケ・解説もよかった。お薦めの一品です！
