If you use heat protection products like you would with a flat iron
This does as advertised, you brush your hair and it straightens as you go. Does it work as well as my expensive flat iron? No, not quite. Does it work though? Yes. If you use heat protection products like you would with a flat iron, it works pretty darn well, and you don't have to do nearly as many layers as you can grab a thicker amount to straighten at a time. This is great at quick and dirty, I gotta run days. It's faster, but you don't get that super sleek flat ironed look. I still use it though, it has a place in my hair appliances. This particular model has pretty high heat, which is why I purchased it over some other models out there. I also liked that the heat wasn't just at the base of the bristles, the bristles themselves are heated. I'm not sure I would recommend this to friends, but I wouldn't talk them out of it either. You might as well spend another 30 bucks or so and get a high end flat iron. This would be a great product for people who can't get the hang out of a flat iron maybe? Like I said, it works, does well, but not the best. I still use it on occasion. Just not my best option for straight hair!

Glad I paid a few extra bucks.
I have super thick, super coarse, super curly gray hair, which is resistant to most forms of styling. In the past I've used curling irons, flat irons, blow dryer plus various brushes, etc., but I was never able to achieve hair nirvana. Plus I ended up with a lot of broken hairs, split ends, and heat damage. I first saw the styling brush concept a couple months ago, and first purchased the Gideon brand on Amazon, because I was skeptical of whether it would work and didn't want to spend a great deal of money. Shocker... it WORKED! I loved it. I could tame my wild mane within five minutes and have it look great all day. But alas, the Gideon only lasted until the 30th day and then it died completely, even though I only used it a handful of times. Fortunately, I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I was able to return it to Amazon for a full refund. I was very sad to have lost this miracle product. I went back to Amazon in search of a replacement, and settled on this BearMoo model. It was only about ten bucks more than the Gideon, but for a little bit more, it has many advantages:1. It seems like a heavier, sturdier, and better made product.2. The control buttons are placed on the inside of the handle instead of on the side like the Gideon brush (which put them right where your thumb goes while you're trying to style your hair, so you're constantly bumping them).3. It has an attached velcro cord manager, so you can wrap up the cord neatly after use.4. Included is a nice "velvet" storage pouch.5. The heat plates are more recessed than the Gideon, so you're less likely to scorch yourself.6. It heats up faster than the Gideon. (As other reviewers have noted, it does make a faint buzzing sound while heating up.)The only disadvantage, albeit very slight, is that the Gideon had a slightly more rounded shape, whereas the BearMoo is flatter. I think the shape of the Gideon made it slightly easier for me to achieve the curve and tuck that I want (I have a shoulder-length bob that tucks in at the bottom). But I think after several uses, I'm learning how to compensate for this. This probably wouldn't be an issue at all for someone who wants very straight hair without tucking in the ends.I've been using this one every day for the past week, putting it to the test during the 30-day return period. I've already used it more times than the Gideon, and it still seems to be working fine. If it fails, I'll update my review.

I really like the idea but I'm not sold on the results
I bought this for my daughter to see if this would be easier to use then a regular straightener and of course i had to try it out as well. This was my first attempt at a hair straightening brush. I really like the idea but I'm not sold on the results. It works like it says and it is easy enough but I don't feel like it gets all the frizz out. Probably because you are only doing one side at a time. It works better if you part your hair and do smaller sections which is exactly what I would do with my normal hair straightener! The temperature gets up to 450 degrees so it definitely gets hot enough but the button placements are kind of bad. While I was using it I kept accidently turning the temperature down or turning it off all together. While it is safe to the touch I would still recommend one of those heat protecting gloves. It did get a little warm using no glove. All in all I would say the product is good. I just personally don't care for it.

I bought 3
I chose this brush as a Christmas present for each of my two sisters. One sister almost refused the gift. She told me she didn’t need it since she already has a fancy expensive flat iron. I insisted she try it first and then decide if she wanted to keep it or not. Both sisters reported back that they really liked their hot brush. After the recommendations from them, I ordered one for me.Here are before and after pictures from the second time I tried it. It took me 6 minutes to get this result. Like my sisters, I also like it. Here are some reasons:Heats up Fast – 45 seconds from the time I turn it on, until it reaches 430 degreesEasy to Use – Brushing your hair is easier than using a flat iron, and I have never burned myself using this brushMulti-tasking – I can actually brush my hair as I watch TV. I don’t even need to see what I’m doing.Hair less flat – Many times, when you straighten your hair, it ends up looking flat. With the brush, you can make hair fluffier by brushing it with your head downward for a little while.Less damaging – I am pretty sure it’s less damaging than when we sandwich our hair between two hot irons, which is how the flat iron works. The negatives:The results don’t last as long as with a flat iron. After you sleep, your hair may get wavy again, so you may need a touch up. If it is less damaging, which I deducted through observation and common sense, it’s not a bad trade off.Easy to accidentally change the temperature - because the buttons are placed in an area of the handle where we normally hold a brush, it is very easy to unwillingly change the temperature. This is not a deal-breaker, you just need to remind yourself and adjust your hold.I recommend it and it’s less than half the price of my flat iron.
