Disappointing
I am a huge fan of Barron's series of pet care books, all translated from German original, and had earlier found them to provide expert advice on keeping and breeding the species they deal with.Sadly, this book on hamsters is very different. It does cover the basics, but hardly anything more. It has very very little info even on such basic things as breeding hamsters and their color varieties. While it claims to cover various hamster species, most of its info is really about Syrian/Golden hamsters, with the nowadays equally popular dwarf hamsters described only very briefly. Most annoyingly, it is written and laid out in a way that suggests children were the main target readership, and as an adult I found being "spoken to" as if I were 8 or10, with boxed texts of additional nuggets of advice accompanied by photos of the smiling "hamster expert" (the author himself) quite irritating. The earlier edition of this book by a different author may well be better...

This is just the book I was looking for. ...
This is just the book I was looking for. It is thin, but loads of information! I would recoment it to all first time hamster owners.

Cute little book - informative and easy to read.
I bought this for my grandson who had a new hamster. He was ten at the time and this was a bit young for his reading level, but he liked it anyway. There was enough useful information for a basic look at caring for hamsters at his age or younger.

Very helpful and a good read!
My 12 yr old nephew got a hamster and we were all looking for a good resource on everything about the hamsters. This book provides the information in an easy to read manner.

Really good book
Good book for new Hamster owners. Good to go to for information if you're having a problem, and not sure what to do!
