Cat Is Sleepy

I'm not sure what it is about Kitamura's illustrations but they have appealed to my child from the time he was about a month old. The book is very sturdy and the right length for a little person. The illustrations are bold and detailed enough that there's something to talk about, but not too complex.

Another cat book by Kitamura that is so much more than the standard fare. Consider this for your adult cat lovers.

My 2 year old has enjoyed these books for a year. She loved Duck is Dirty so much we got this one. She loves it too.

If you have ever seen a sleepier cat than this without anesthesia being involved, I will give you $10. This was the first Satoshi Kitamura book we fell in love with, due to his amazingly expressive cartoons. We have this in board book format for little bitty kids, but if my son wanted to get rid of it, I'd put it in my own library. I'd also give it to cat-loving adults as a gift. It's so cute!The other books in this series, such as Dog is Thirsty, are fine, but Cat is Sleepy is the best.

My 17 month son absolutely loves this book and looks intently at the illustrations every time we read it (at least once a day).

My one year old is very distracted by the busy pages. This book is not nearly so straightforward as "Duck is Dirty." Also, it is harder to tell what the animal is by the picture. It appears to be geared for an older tot.
