What is the difference between the gel and the spray?

A gel is thicker and the spray is more like liquid.

One of the reviews says not to apply it with your bare hands. Do we need to wear gloves? What happens if you use your hands?

If you are sensitive to the ingredients then you should as you will absorb it. Washing your hands after has limited effect. I have painful hands cuz of arthritis so it helps me and I do not wear them.

Yes. They work well to soothe muscles - I like the roll on ones better because they is easier to apply, don’t need to wash your hands afterward, and last a long time.
