An Invaluable tool. I have had both ignition switch problems and power windows problems with my 1999 Chevy Express 1500 Van. I had to replace the drivers side power window switch 4 times. Then I discovered I had a faulty ignition switch that was killing my battery. Replaced the battery three times in 8 months cause the ignition switch was draining the battery. Replaced the ignition switch - Problems solved."A Must Have guide" Here's why. When replacing the ignition switch you have to remove the Steering Wheel. The steering wheel contains the Drivers Side Airbag. To remove the steering wheel with out "accidentally" deploying the Airbag, you have to disconnect the Vehicle battery first, then wait Ten Seconds to ensure the electrical power is drained from the Capacitors in the Airbag Electrical System.Accidentally deploying the Air Bag can seriously injury you, and it can be expensive to replace the Airbag even if you are not injured.

This book gives me an upper hand if I need a mechanic. I may know what's probably wrong, but don't know how to repair it myself. I am more knowledgeable about my own vehicle & I can do small repairs myself. Small print, good illustration. It's a nice surprise to be able to get any type of manual that goes this far back, too

I bought this manual as a supplement to several on line repair manuals. I have two cut-away school busses with the Chevy chassis. This manual didn't cover anything on the diesel engine. As time goes on these manuals are loosing the technical support that we depended on in the past. Go to any auto parts store, and you will find the same disappearance of qualified information needed to complete these projects.

This book was purchased not for any mechanical repairs that I might do on this vehicle, but more along the lines that I have this brand of manual for every vehicle I own. I was however interested to see if a particular issue regarding the mechanics of the door locking mechanism and assembly of their components was addressed, but this book did not. This is still an excellent purchase for the mechanically inclined and would recommend it for that reason by itself.

As other people have noted, there are occasional, small inaccuracies found here and there, but so far I've been able to figure those out by examining the part in question. To have a cross-reference, I bought this plus the Chilton Manual.PS - If you want more details and accuracy, you can buy the Factory Service Manuals - they were too expensive for me.

Fantastic manual!! A must for any Chevy Express owner. We own an American RV based on a Chevy Express 3500, so this fitted the bill perfectly. It’s alteady saved me money on bits and pieces I can do myself. It’s always that one screw you can’t find, so this manual is great. It’s gives you all the important torque settings as well. If you own this type of vehicle, I think it’s a real must.

If you are buying this for it's literary value, you are going to be disappointed. If you just want to fix your GM van, then this is your book.
