Rocky Mountain National Park: The Complete Guide: (Color Travel Guide)

I wish I had found this book before I purchased every book and map I could find hoping to better understand the terrain. While maps are always necessary, this book has all of the context that maps do not. Not only does it contain detailed information about the trails, lakes, and sites to see within RNMP and surrounding areas, but it also has detailed history, maps, wildlife, and colored pictures (that you don’t need a magnifying glass to see) to understand the lay of the land. I’m really stoked that I found this book before my first trip to explore the RMNP area. It truly contains everything you would hope to find, in one resource. Much gratitude to the author for creating this book in such an intuitive format. ✌️

This guidebook greatly benefited us as we stayed on the quieter west side of the park in the small town of Grand Lake. The author does an excellent job interspersing history and hikes, helping bring context to the park. I discovered the Timber Lake trail hike in this guide. Challenging but stunning, rewarded with a moose mama and baby on the way to a pristine alpine lake.We rented a log cabin, and I happily left this guide on their bookshelf for future visitors.

I initially was grumpy about this book because I thought I was buying a trail/hiking guide but the book is so very well done I couldn’t help but like it and I eventually realized that while it has some trail guides it is a book about the park rather than about hiking the park. Book design, photography, typeface/fonts and printing quality are excellent. It is very readable.

It's a great book for details - a little bit challenging to plan your trip with just the book. We planned our trip based on YouTube videos and than used the book to get additional details on the placing we planned to visit.

This is a comprehensive guide with historical information, flora, fauna, trail maps and more! I've purchased a few guide books recently planning a trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Rocky Mountain national parks this summer, and this is by far the best one I've gotten. I wish there was one for Yellowstone! Don't hesitate if you are planning a trip to any of the locations available. Definitely worth the cost of the guide.

We recently bought a cabin near the Wild Basin entrance of RMNP and I was looking for a guidebook that would help us as we explore this area. This book exceeded expectations as it not only provides trail recommendations but also discusses the ecology, geology and history of the Park, which is something other books have a tendency to skim over or not include at all. The pictures really make this book stand out—they certainly make you want to go out and explore RMNP!

Photos! Information about plants, animals, geology, history, photos and more photos - in color. This is a lovely book to read even if you aren't going to Rocky Mountain NP. I hope the author writes more books like this.
