Sturdy & Comfortable - Nice for the price!!
They fit the bill for our needs! Sturdy, large enough to be comfortable and small enough to tuck under our island countertop. I put them together using premium wood glue, not the glue provided. A couple of the dowels needed some encouragement to fit via mallet - better tight than loose. And the price is very reasonable! We did not receive any pads/feet for the bottom of the legs, which surprised me; however, we bought 1.5” sliders which just add to the ease of moving them. They will be great seats for guests with the holidays coming up!!

Perfect in every way
These barstools were the perfect solution to my small space. I had three large metal and leather stools that swiveled and had high backs. Did NOT work! Every time I walked by I banged my elbow on them. This set is a great value, really sturdy, beautiful real wood, dark oak, and heavy duty. I'm grateful I did not have to try to put them together by myself, it did take my husband and myself about two hours to get them together. Glue and screws come with them, but we used our own heavy duty glue. I really only needed two at my bar so the third one gets used in the bathroom by my "shaver-height" vanity. Is perfect! I saw these saw stools at a local store and they were $45.00 each, so this is a real value.

Solidly built, Great value, Requires a Mallet and thicker screws.
Overall:These chairs are solidly built, with very thick, solid wood pieces. They fit together well and snugly. The "antique" black means that some of the edges are distressed and dark reddish in color. This isn't a very noticeable feature, though, and looking at it from across the room, they look straight up black. I'm a 200+ lbs man and I have no concerns about these stools handling my weight.Assembly:First, make sure you have a rubber mallet on hand, as you'll need to pounding the pieces together, as they are a tight fit and most folks won't be able to push the pieces together. The screws provided are fine, but some of the pilot holes were pre-drilled too large, so the thin screws (look like longer drywall screws) can't grab the wood. I bought some slightly thicker steel screws of the same length and those worked better. (Don't get screws that are too thick, though, or you can crack the wood. I appreciated that each chair kit included its own wood glue. It took me about half an hour apiece to assemble these. The result is a very solid stool, though 2 of 3 had a slight wobble to them (legs not perfectly cut). I'm hoping I can adjust that with some pads on the bottom.Overall, great value for the price and solidly designed outside of the screws and slight un-evenness of the legs. These are easily 25% of the cost of others I've seen and I can't imagine the more expensive ones are substantially different. I recommend them.

Solid counter stools
Bought the set of 3 stools for the apartment breakfast bar. They showed up exactly as described. All the individual pieces are labelled clearly so you know which legs go where once you read the directions (though these aren't very complicated structures anyways, so who needs directions?) The set comes with all the equipment minus a screw driver, which any self respecting person owns. Easy to assemble if you have a functioning brain. Some of the legs were tougher to squeeze together due to slightly wider end nobs, but nothing a little elbow grease didn't solve. Once the screws are in place these stools are nice and solid, with very little squeaking/movement at this point. We would happily recommend this set to anyone looking for stools of this height.

The worst product I've bought from Amazon so far
I bought this set in black and walnut. In walnut they are beautiful and the fit and finish is top notch. The craftsmanship is obviously very high. Unfortunately I also ordered this "same" set in black. The black set is not from the same factory, the same country of origin and most certainly not of the same quality. The black stools will not stand without being fully screwed together. The mortise and tenon joints are so miss matched that I had to go out to buy larger screws and use Gorilla glue to try to fix what they did in the factory. At this point the only use I see coming out of these black stools is that they may burn well in the fire this winter. The legs are all of different length, the black scratches very easily and the joints are so poorly created that these stools really are useless. By contrast, the walnut very is fantastic in every way. See my review of them for details, but if I could do it again I would get two sets in walnut - highly recommended. The black version is total crap.

Not as sturdy as I thought
Same as other reviewer. No matter how much tightening of screws, the stool wobbles side to side. They look really cool. Just wish they were more sturdy. Easy to assemble. Took over an hour to glue and screw it all together. The sticker on the top of the seat was challenging to get off and even though I used goo gone, it took some major scrubbing which resulted in me scratching 2 of them. The sticker says 300 lb. weight capacity. Would have been just as easy for the stickers to have been placed on the bottom of the stools. Returned
