For hardwood floors, which is best - floor mop or dust mop

Dust mop. You would never want to use a sopping wet mop on hardwood floors. The Libman Floor Mop is perfect because you can dampen the pad and wring out the excess before placing the cleaning pad on the base.

It doesn't feel gross to put the dirty mop heads in the washing machine?

No, because I'm washing a "dirty" load of dog beds or dog towels at the same time. Put enough Chlorox or other bleach in with the detergent and you'll have a clean , fresh mop in no time! Nothing gross about it. If you are still squeamish about the washer not being clean after that load, just put it on the rinse cycle to flush out any dirty water that may be left or run another bleached load. Love these mops. I have two and extra heads for each for wet mopping, drying or dust mopping.

Is the map stutdy? My Swiffer mop flips and flops as I am using it; making it difficult to maneuver.

This mop is very sturdy. I use it every day and have 2-dozen extra pads that I wash with detergent and bleach each time they are used. I have had this mop for 3-years and have no problems. It has saved my back after back surgery. Enjoy!
