Seems to work. I don't have anything to test ...
Seems to work. I don't have anything to test it against for accuracy. What I can say is, I have a stack of Southern Yellow Pine that has been stickered and stacked in my home office for 2 months in the fall with a fan blowing 24/7. According to the meter, the moisture stabilized at about 7%. That is what I expected it to stabilize at.And, it was half the price of any other moisture meters. So that's always an advantage!

Couldn't get it to work consistantly
After reading the other reviews I was weary of the item performing inconsistently, but figured for the price I would take the chance. When I received the item I tested it on several different woods types and ages in my shop. Most of the time, no matter what setting it was in, I couldn't get a read. I could occasionally get a read if the probes were inserted all the way into the wood, but the required a lot of pressure to insert, and even then the read would register for a second and then go away. May just be patchy product quality control, but it didn't work well for me. if your looking for a moistures meter for your woodworking endeavors I would recommend steering clear of this one.Review update: The seller contacted me and suggested I may have received a defective unit. Another unit was sent. I tested the unit again on several species of wood in my shop at various states of drying following the included instructions very carefully. I could only consistently obtain a reading on pieces with a higher level of moisture (15-20%). When I tested any of the pieces I would actually be using in making projects the instrument would only read as 0.0 most of the time. Occasionally, when I first touched it to the wood it would flash to another number, then flash back to 0%. The flash was is so quick that I was unable to read the data. I will say their customer service is very supportive in attempting to resolve the issues, but the product still leaves something to be desired. This product would perhaps be useful if you are evaluating for firewood, but I can not recommend it for use in curing lumber for carpentry. Customer service is still working with their product team to see if the issue noted above can be resolved. Should the above concern be addressed, another update will follow.

It works but no wagner.
This is a cheap tester I have no great tester to compare it to. However I do have another cheap tester and they both are all over the place. I use it for my personal use and I can take a measurement record it take another at a latter time and it shows a decrease so for a device that helps show that the wood is losing moisture yes. But as for a trust worthy and accurate measurement I feel as though it cant be trusted. I feel the same about my ryobi tester just have no faith in the actual readings. It does work and gives a reading it doesnt have alot of types of wood in the list so you need to be good at guess what setting to use for different types of wood. It works but no wagner.

Didn't Work, But sent a new one free.
Poor quality control. Put the battery in and all I got were zero readings no matter how wet the wood was. Rather than go through the hassle of returning it, I opened it up and found the two wires that connect to the probes were not connected. So, I slipped the wires into the terminal connectors, crimped them, put the unit back together and it worked. Apparently the factory never connected the wires the the probes. Amazon did contact me on their own and offered to send me a new improved model which they did. I had no problems with the new one they sent.

Great price, shipping and accurate readings
Fast shipping and easy to use! Bought to measure reclaimed barn wood so can monitor moisture level before milling for projects. Tested several pieces of red oak and yellow pine that were stored protected outdoors and in dry workshop. All readings were as expected, 15-18% for wood stored in barn and 6-8% for wood that has been in workshop for years. Great investment to make sure the wood moisture stabilized before starting projects.

I am basic user and this works for me
I just use it for a basic idea of how dry my firewood is. None of the woods labeled match my local firewood, but it still just gives me an idea of how dry it is and then I know if I can burn it.

Meh. Spend the money on pinless type.
Not sure if bamboo is just an item that cannot be tested on this device, but the directions to it suck. If probes pressed hard into bamboo you get results that don’t seem consistent.Edit: The manufacturer/seller has offered a full refund or replacement. I appreciate the gesture, but I did get some level of "use" out of it and have no further use for this meter now that project has been completed. Perhaps a warning that super hard products like bamboo are not recommended use for this meter. It does seem to work on wood. Extra star for being such a great seller.

DOA unit - updated review
Received defective unit; display had faulty connection to circuit board.Update: The seller sent a new, upgraded unit free to replace the faulty unit...a very gracious response. This new unit is a substantial improvement: far more rugged, nice easy-grip cover, and the ability to test a range of non wood items. The ability to test non-wood was a nice addition that I have already taken advantage of. In short, a very robust meter, especially for the price.

A great value
Given the low price I didn't have very high expectations but I was very pleasantly surprised. The moisture meter seems well made, the display is clear and easy to read. The "chinglish" instructions are fun(ny) to read but they convey the necessary information well enough. Setting the correct wood type is important as it make a significant difference in the readings. I tried it repeatedly on several different pieces of wood ranging from "freshly cut down" to "dried indoors for a decade"- the reading seemed appropriate and were repeatable.
