Thought that I had defective pumps as well on the three I ordered, but it's just a poor design. If you can't get your pump to open, follow the instructions in the photo (I'll type them below as well):1. Take the pump out of the bottle and hold it by the actual pump housing (it may be slippery, just hold it with a paper towel or dry it off first).2. Twist the top of the dispenser CLOCKWISE (I know it seems counterintuitive but that's how they designed it).Hope this helps!As far as the review, I love this stuff and I love the scent, and it's a great value as well. If it weren't for the poorly implemented pump design this would easily be a 5 star product.

I ordered the three pack and it took me 20 minutes (and reading the answers to the questions on here) to get two of my three dispensers to work. The third one seems hopeless - no amount of turning in any direction releases the pump. Grrr.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product, however I am NOT convinced that this is a genuine JR Watkins product. I've been buying their lemon soap from Target for years and had attempted to buy refills for their product on Amazon once before (I was sent the wrong product and did not heed the other reviews that had the same problem. Different seller to be clear).Here are the three reasons my counterfeit detector is up:1. JR Watkins uses plain lemon to scent their product, NOT Meyer lemons. Meyer lemons have a very distinctive scent, especially when created in a lab (as ethers normally are when creating scents for things like soap). This product smells like a cheaper Meyer lemon smell, not the sharp, acidic clean smell of plain lemons like JR Watkins products in stores.2. A related point, the gel is slightly yellow in the container, another thing you often see when something is scented with Meyer lemon smell. JR Watkins products are always 100% clear when you buy them in store.3. Finally, the label and style of the bottle is not one I've seen before in store. It's possible that they've changed it, so I am the least certain about this. But previously, the J.R. Watkins bottles had a distinctive shape, long necks and pumps that stood up high. To be fair, the product is as pictured on Amazon, so I feel like I can't ding them for this, although the pump does not spring up when you open it, something that surprised me.However, since it's just soap and 90% of people wouldn't notice these things, I will likely keep it and use these three bottles. However, in the future I don't think I will buy soap from Amazon when it's clear that the brand is so important to me. It's also slightly overpriced compared to what I used to buy in store, but since it's impossible to find in-person because of the pandemic, I suppose this will have to suffice.

I have purchased this product in the past and liked it al lot, so I chose to purchase this 3 pack. Unfortunately, the pump mechanism on all three bottles was defective. In order to use it, I must purchase a dispenser. What a pain! Never again.

I actually bought the soap by mistake I thought they were sanitizers. I bought themin a rush when the pandemic started. When i received them I was disappointed. But it did sure surprise me... great product... not used on animals to test.... based from plants ... but the best of all the smell of coconut and great lather. I have no complaints. I will reorder. Only draw back was that it didn’t arrive quickly but that was expected.
