It was a bit dated but pretty informative. Former library book in pretty good shape

Decent book though Bill's other books are better and cover most of the same material.

This is part of our home schooling skills reading for Locksmithing and Security Design. After getting through a lot of the basic work this is a great follow on piece for advanced learning.

Very good and informative volume on Locksmithing. You will not be disappointed. Learn how to rekey, masterkey, service, install and repair all different types of locks. Written by Bill Phillips who is an expert in the trade.

40% of this book is simply copies of manufacturers manuals and locksmith supply houses available free online.(google "kwikset master key manual" and you'll have chapter 6 or go to Adams Rite Mfg. and order for free chapter 10 "electric strike handbook" etc.)The rest is just a quick overview of the locksmith trade, nothing in depth and definitely not Master Locksmithing. I am returning mine tomorrow.

I never took the time to review anything before, but I felt the need to warn anybody considering getting this one.This is simply the worst book on anything l̶o̶c̶k̶ ̶r̶e̶l̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ I ever laid my hands on.It doesn't contain any relevant information, and doesn't cover any topic in depth.If you googled anything lock related in your life, you already know more than this book will provide.More than half of it is actually just random filler material:- a compilation of random datasheets,- copies of door hardware installation leaflets or templates you'd get by buying the actual locks if you ever needed them,- or even just a generic a list of symbols used in electronics (!?), dropped in there without context or any additional detail and pretending it would help with understanding alarm and access control systems...Don't waste your money on this.Nothing to see here. There's plenty of very good books on the topic out there.
