All Sadies, all the time!
This is a great cross-section of their styles through the years. Garage rock, twang and early 70's-era psychedelic cowboy. The new songs are very strong and their vocals (harmonies included) continue to become more formidable (especially considering they only did instrumentals 10 years ago). There are a couple instrumentals as well. Track #6 sounds like a long lost Flying Burrito Brothers cut (with a bit of a kick in the pants feel) and track #1 is classic nuggets-era garage rock. There are also a couple killer creepy-mellow noir-ish ballads to keep things interesting.I will say that this CD DOES have focus - it is all Sadies. If you liked their last couple releases, Play it and play it loud!

I have always loved the Sadies music
I have always loved the Sadies music, and this album is no exception. They only thing that I didn't care for, and I'm probably being a bit nit picky, is that a lot of the lyrics seemed a bit cliche'd.

Long live the Sadies
The Sadies have been at it for quite a while, but there are no signs of complacency or slowing down. This record is diverse in tone, pace and volume. The production is subtle and effective. Simply put, these guys are pros that can rock, twang and pick with the very best of 'em. Their songwriting has matured as has their range.Check out "The First Five Minutes" or "The Very Beginning" if you need a preview.Fantastic album.

It’s The Sadies...how can you go wrong?
Another great collection of sometimes Byrd-sy, sometimes surf-psych guitar rock, that define their sound; with flourishes of fiddle & mando and everything that makes The Sadies such a great band (you have to catch them live if you haven’t yet).

My favorite new album
I have had a lot of Sadies CDs over the years and all of them are in my iTunes catalogue. I've never gone and listened closely to the albums, but heard most of them on shuffle over the years. I always like it when I hear it, when I've gone and listened to the albums I recognize the songs. While I've always liked them I've never been crazy about them. I'm crazy about this album. It grabbed me right away and won't stop - I've been listening to it almost every day for a few weeks. The lyrics are great - clever and sad and funny and sadder. The music wouldn't let you know the song is sad, however, and it moves apace well. I'm about to buy the CD of this album after having downloaded the mps from emusic. I'm buying it twice - in this day and age. Oy. Go buy it at least once.

internal sounds
I think this is a great album. "The Lesser Key" is one of my favourite songs - reminds me a bit of Brian Eno. It is a classic short-instrumental Sadies song, but even better than some of their old ones. "The Very Beginning" is comparable with some of the songs on the previous few albums - maybe one of my all-time favorite Sadies songs. "We Are Circling" by Buffy Sainte-Marie is not really classic Sadies, but it is a classic performance that complements the sentiments in some of the other songs. I never would have heard of Buffy Sainte-Marie, great Native Canadian/American artist, if not for this album. Other favourite song here is "Another Tomorrow Again". Overall one of my favourite Sadies albums, even though they have so many great albums. Album produced by Dallas Good. Cover artwork shows Dallas' broken bones from a recent injury.

Just Not Happening
The Sadies latest release shows that the band has no clear cut direction. Try as I might, to get into the CD, it has no flow. Strangest of all is the exhumation of Buffy St. Marie's (no relation to the vampire killer, I think)lead vocal on the eerie closing track. Sounds like she must have been on ether mixed with some brand of Canadian firewater. It's not a disaster but at just over 33 minutes, there's not much bang for your buck.
