The good: Attractive. Finish looks nice. Frosted glass globe is pretty nice. Packaging was well done.The bad: I ordered 8 of these. 1 out of 8 had a broken connector right out of the box. On another one of the 8, the connector snapped in the same way the other one was split in half, when I (gently) slid it apart to connect it to the wire. It seems the connectors have a weak spot in the molded plastic. Instead of send these back (as my wife likes the look of them), for the two that were broken, I cut off the connector and stripped the wires and hard connected them. I also wrapped all other connectors VERY WELL with rubber electrical tape so they don't just fall apart over time. My only other complaint was the thumb screws that hold the top on are a little hard to line up and start.These are sold with halogen bulbs. But, LED bulbs worked for me, and they save on the electric bill and hopefully from having to change out bulbs every year. I used these: La Farah 1.2 Watt G4 LED 12V Bi-Pin Light Bulb Warm White 2700K Halogen G4 10W led Replacements-Pack of 6 (1.2 W)

My husband and I did a complete redo of our front yard, getting rid of grass and instead, going to more of a Texas desert landscape, using just native plants that require little water. I wanted to highlight the landscaping in the evening, so I bought a 200-watt power supply and a dozen of these lamps.They were easy to assemble and simple to install. I've had to replace 7 or 8 bulbs in the past year, so I would recommend stocking up on 10-watt bi-pin halogen bulbs. They're ridiculously expensive individually at most retail stores. Buy them on eBay by the 20-pack and they're cheap.These lights look beautiful! They're elegant and cozy, brightly illuminating the ground below the cap. We have red mulch, so the ground coverage looks gorgeous! Also, if you decide to add more of them, you can very easily by just tapping into your main 2-conductor wire. Just calculate your wattage of bulbs to be sure you have a large enough power supply to light them. When you're hooking them up, be sure to wrap your tap-in connection with some water-sealing tape to keep the connection clean and corrosion free.Other than the surge of dead bulbs, which hasn't been the case in the past month or two, we love these lights!

I purchased 10 of these lamps to light the path to our front door. The lights we had previously were plastic and just not holding up to the wear and tear of Wisconsin winters. Made of metal and glass, these seem to be doing well (we're two years in now). This last winter we hit one with the snow blower and I was pleased to see that they were still available so I could replace it.One annoyance - when replacing the light bulbs, the top of light fixture has to be attached via two small screws. This isn't difficult during the initial installation when the light is not yet in the ground and you can turn it upside down to line up the holes but when you're just replacing a bulb and don't want to disconnect the light entirely, it is very difficult to get the screws back in without being able to see the underside. I usually end up on the ground trying to line up the holes visually and then attempting to keep it from moving while I find the screw and put it back in.

I started with four of these, and I think I have more than twenty now. They provide the perfect outdoor light: a warm glow for plants and paths.Update 2019: I've had to replace several. While the posts and tops are aluminum, the base in the ground is not and depending on the location will rust and fail. Once the bases fail, they're almost impossible to replace, so you need to replace the whole light. The included connectors do not last either: roughly 50% of the lights require annual tweaking, had to purchase replacement connectors of a different type. Replaced halogen bulbs w LEDs as well, which reduced dimness due to voltage drops for distant lights: overall result is more even light and ~75% reduction in power needs.

They have yet to be installed but there is already a problem with putting in the small light then re-attaching the top. When the outside glass covering is put in it is very difficult to screw in the very small screws because there isn't any room for your fingers to turn the screws. I had to turn the lamp upside down and use a screw driver if this is what I have to do when a bulb burns out that becomes a real issue for me. When looking at the light it would seem the top piece should unscrew to get out the light which is what I have on my patio which is very convenient.

These lights are very attractive while they are working, the problem is to keep them working. As far as I can tell, the bulb life on each bulb is about 2 weeks, if you have more than 5 or 6 you can almost count on one of the lights being out. Support is terrible. Basically, when you call or email for support you get a series of questions like "is the unit plugged in". After you answer a series of these types of questions, they basically give you a set of instructions that if you can complete, I'm pretty sure you could be awarded a degree in electrical engineering. They seem well made, and like I have written, they are attractive, but, it's not worth the hassle of keeping them working.

Good lighting for landscape. Well built and has a good height also.

I liked the product but quartz halogen lights? It will cost me $20 to retrofit this to LEDs which are far better.

Very solid construction, works well with LED bulbs.

Great lights, strong and durable. Purchased LED bulbs to fit. A lot cheaper than buying LED fixtures.
