The Book Of The Law Paperback – March 13, 2021

This book or "poetic essay" is quite ingenious if you're reading it from an experienced spiritual vantage point; (therefore I would say this book is not ideal for total beginners of the Path, but this is subjective of course). The style & quality definitely feels like channeled material, as Crowley alleges it to be, and if it's not, it's quite impressive -- and beneficial nonetheless.• It's split up into 3 thematic sections, narrated by 3 different entity-characters: Nuit, Hadit, & Ra-Hoor-Khuit.The overall theme consists of overthrowing the old paradigm of self-repression based on dogmatic beliefs about life. With specific regard to the audience of ‘enlightened readers’, its overall message overthrows misguided beliefs about the Spiritual Path, and replaces them with a lucrative appealing alternative; SELF-WORTH -- and an absence of arbitrary, self-imposed limitations about what should or shouldn't be done. (Obviously, this does not entail doing away with discernment & empathy)• Besides material that can be used to cultivate insights, there are a lot of impenetrable Mysteries/puzzles, and obscure allusions. But, that makes it fascinating. As well as frustrating.• With a lot of the passages that seem to be saying something “controversial” at a glance, one can perceive the hidden/metaphorical meaning behind it. However there were some aspects of Ra-Hoor-Khuit’s section to which i had difficulty doing so, and so they seemed arbitrarily bizarre and disturbing. But perhaps the purpose in this case was to deter (“turn away”) people who up until this point didn't possess the proper discernment to extract the true value of all that was said thus far... Kind of like a final checkpoint. Whatever it means, I was incapable of benefiting from it, so I simply moved on.ONLY COMPLAINT: Very short for the price - I would have liked a version that provided a preface with more complete expository insight, and also some essential insights into the meaning of the material. Instead, the other half of the book has facsimiles (as advertised) of Aleister Crowley's handwritten copy of the book, which personally doesn't provide me with any extra value at all...5 stars for the value of the material itself; as for the overall product, it would benefit from some revamping, so people can get the most out of the text, without having to undergo unnecessary & laborious external research efforts. (perhaps a more “complete” edition exists like I suggested, but if so I couldn't find it in search results. Maybe I suck.)-Paul

I purchased this book because I’ve heard a lot about it. I wasn’t sure what to expect because it’s very different from the religious beliefs I was raised with.This book is a fantastic read. It opened my mind to new ideas and new perspectives. My husband also read a copy.I don’t want to reveal much about this book because if you’re here reading reviews, you’re meant to read the book. Trust yourself and buy it.

A great book that will not make any sense if you have not already done some research in history, religion, the occult and the like. As far as the quality of this specific printing it is great and is the one I would recommend buying no regrets about this book. As far as the content it is extremely short, but had enough there to answer several questions that I had and is a book I come back to and reference often. With all that said if you just pick this up and read and that is it and expect it to teach you then you are sorely mistaken this is going to seem like nonsensical gibberish to you if you don't know what is being talked about. So if that is you then start with the following books.The Kybalion.Magick: Liber ABADoctrine & Covenants.& any of the good book on Egyptian culture and theology.At that point you will understand a lot of what is being said in this book.On a side note I have seen quite a few reviews on here complaining about typos in this book... /facepalm this is incorrect there are no typos. this is an exact typed version of written pages that were written in the 1800s, they spelled things differently then and were not as picky about where they put an apostrophe or period etc... these are not typos.

Aleister Crowley's cornerstone work is written in this book. However, this book is not for the feint of heart. Those who wish to read this book for the first time will be lost, and their mind blown. I would recommend the following curriculum when reading this book:1. Read the Book of the Law.2. Read Equinox of the Gods. This book as a standalone work is no longer in print, however you can acquire it by purchasing Crowley's Book 4 (which also contains this work as well). This book explains the origins of the Book of the Law and how to read it.3. Read the Book of the Law again. Now you should have a better understanding of the work and not feel so lost in what seems to be a drug-induced ramble.This is a pretty hard book to get through, although the Book of the Law itself is only about 100 pages long, if that. The book also contains the original manuscript with it, if you are interested in trying to read Crowley's hieroglyphs.This book is for people who want to start studying Crowley, or for people who are advance magicians, or people who are interested in the O.T.O or the A.-.A.-., or simply just into metaphysical studies.

After reading this book i found it very interesting that Mr Crowley documentary was based on some of the manifest in it

It's the Book of the Law by Crowley. You're ordering this because it's what you specifically want but truth be told: DuQuette's book on Magick of Aleister Crowley also includes the Book of the Law, so if you have extra cash, just get that. But if you need a book to keep notes in or just to have specifically this, by all means, get it.

I don't recommend this edition of The Book of the Law, as it contains numerous typos.
