My doctor recently discovered I have iron-deficiency anemia. Who knew?! She put me on ferrous sulfate 325 mg 3 x a day. I don't know about you, but I am unwilling to spend the rest of my life being on a pill that upsets my stomach and constipates me. So I looked for an alternative treatment... found Ferro-Sequels at my local Walgreens and asked the pharmacist how many I'd have to take per day to be the same as what the doctor wants me to take. Been taking these about four months now. I take 4 tablets a day (two in the a.m. and two in the p.m.). These are great because they are timed-release pills, easy to swallow with no after-taste, and they don't cause any stomach upset or constipation. Each pill (160 mg of Ferrous Fumarate) delivers 50 mg of ELEMENTAL IRON. Your body will absorb them better if you take them with orange juice (Vitamin C). Try not to take them with milk or caffeine as I read that will decrease the absorption. My military insurance won't cover these, but if you set up Amazon.com's repeat order system (sorry I can't recall what they call that), you will get them at a lower price, and you don't have to remember to re-order, and you can skip a monthly order if you need to as well. 34 years ago when I was pregnant my doctor told me to take Ferro Sequels. His nurse advised me, always take it with a full glass of water and you won't get constipated. I never had a problem with that during the pregnancies. Within the last two years I have developed anemia because my body does not absorb iron from food very well. My primary care doc just told me to take an iron supplement and I tried a few cheaper brands but they upset my stomach. I asked the pharmacist and he said the Ferro Sequels is probably the best OTC iron supplement. My biggest problem has been the price and so sometimes I let it go and then on the next doctor's visit it would be low again. So now I just made up my mind that like my diabetes pills it is something I have to take every day. I also think these work quickly. The last time I started them after about a week I really felt a difference. I found the Amazon price lower than my two local drugstore chains. So I am looking forward to these arriving.I forgot to mention that iron can keep you from absorbing other vitamin supplements. NEVER take iron with Calcium, it would be like throwing the Calcium in the trash. I forgot though until another reviewer mentioned it Iron and C work well together.

I purchased Ferrous Sulfate from a pharmacist. I need to handle iron anemia as advised by my doctor. She did mention thatFerrous Sulfate may be harder on the stomach and digestive system than Ferrous Gluconate or some other type. The Ferrous Sulfate was much cheaper in the store than others so I bought it. BIG MISTAKE! 1 pill made me so ill I could hardly stand up straight and immediately caused constipation.So I looked online here for reviews, bought this product and had it over-nighted. This item is so much easier on the digestion, no stomach pain, constipation, or nausea. I am to take 2 pills each day, morning and night. So far I tolerated 2 pills a day so today I am taking the additional 2 pills without a problem. If you must be on a high dose regimen this is the only product I would recommend!!!Be sure to read the label carefully in regard to how much iron you need as it lists 160 mg Ferrous Fumerate which delivers 50 mg of elemental iron. Make sure you are taking what your doctor recommends. i.e. 325mg twice a day for me ended up being approximately 4 pills daily: 2 pills (160mg x 2 pills= 320 mg)morning and night. Talk to your doctor if you are not sure on the dosing!

I was recommended this product from a coworker. I have suffered from low iron my entire life and have never been able to stomach iron supplements. I thought I would give this a go. The first time I took it, I had barely eaten anything and within 30 min had severe stomach cramps and nausea. As soon as I put some food in my stomach, the sick feelings went away. Later that day I also felt a bit energetic especially around the time I usually hit my lull (2-3pm). I have taken it just about every other day since then with food and have had no issues. I am hesitant to take it daily because I know a side effect is constipation. I have upped my fiber content and may work myself up to daily doses. Overall, I am impressed with the product because I have a history of a sensitive and grumpy stomach. I am happy I finally found a supplement that works for me. My doctors will be so proud after over 20 years of trying to get me to take an iron supplement! I will definitely be recommending this product to anyone who suffers from iron deficiency.

I have used this iron supplement in the past and found that it works tremendously. It is easy on the stomach and non binding. After being diagnosed with anemia, there was no other iron tablet that I would take daily for an extended period of time, or even for a short time frame, but FERRO-SEQUELS. After searching in various local chains and being discouraged with the prices, I decided to try Amazon and was pleased with the selection of vendors. Unfortunately, AmericanWholesale did not live up to the obligation and I had to try another vendor as my health would not allow me to tarry much longer.
