Good, high quality riser extension
This is a good quality riser extension that'll help you if you can access a PCI Express expansion slot in your computer but the component you're trying to install can't fit (or, frankly, if you just want to place it somewhere non-standard).The connectors on it are as solid as these get (which is not very, but good enough). What I really like is that the cable is reminiscent of an old school floppy or IDE drive ribbon cable. It's flexible while still being sturdy. It can, obviously, get snagged and torn, but if you're careful you can manipulate it into just about any shape you want. This cable is specifically a 1x cable, so good for devices like USB boards, WiFi or network boards, etc. It'll technically work with anything PCI-Express (that's the way the spec works), but for things like graphics cards you'll want more than one lane. This company does sell other extender cables if that's what you're looking for.

This gives you a massive amount of flexibility for placing an expansion device in your computer. The connectors on it are as solid as these get (which is not very, but good enough). It will obviously only extend the first four lanes. While an x16 slot has - in theory - 4x the bandwidth of an x4 connection, YouTube videos show around a 5-10% impact to GPU performance vs. plugging directly into an x16 slot in the computer.

works
My video card blocks two of the Three PCIe slots in my Dell XPS 8960. I am using this port extender to add 10GB network adapter card. This Extender Card fits under the video card into one of the blocked PCIe slots, allowing me to plug the ethernet card into it.

Very solid quality PCI-E extender from DEVMO
I like this PCI-E bus extension from DEVMO!Build quality is very solid - it feels like any modern computer components you ever used, and maybe even some from the past thanks to the ribbon cable that looks and feels much like the IDE/EIDE cables of old.Ideally your PC case would have a vertical slot that you can anchor the card you want to use in, but there are other uses and mounting options if you decide to get creative and MacGyver it somewhere else. The only thing I don't like about this extension is the use of tape as an insulator along the top and bottom edges of the PCBs. Tape dries up and falls off over time and I like my blasphemous PC mods to be permanent. You don't want tape collecting dust or blowing around the inside of your case potentially clogging a fan or worse.Still, DEVMO makes great stuff in my experience and I would highly recommend this PCI-E bus extension.
