War Lord

Just brilliant. So well researched, so well written and so readable. I have so enjoyed reading all of this series and this final chapter of Uhtred's journey has been enormously satisfying. Reading these books has encouraged me to investigate and study a period of History that I knew less about. Although I love History, most of my knowledge ranged from the Norman Conquest onwards. These books have opened a gateway to a completely different society . I loved them.

I strongly recommend this book. Bernard Cornwell is the king of historical fiction. War Lord is the 13th and last book in the Last Kingdom Series. It would be best to start with book one The Last Kingdom and continue to read the story of Utred, of Saxons and of the Danes. The series is also on Netflix and again I would highly recommend it. There are several fan groups on Facebook. The one I am in has over 2,000.000 members which should tell you how good both the books and TV series are.

As a fan of the Netflix show "The Last Kingdom," I decided to dive into Bernard Cornwell's book series that inspired it. Starting from the first book, I was captivated by the rich historical detail and engaging storytelling. Now, having read through the first 12 books, I'm excited to have "War Lord," the final installment, in my hands. It’s rare to find a series that maintains such high quality throughout, and "The Last Kingdom" series does just that. If you enjoyed the Netflix adaptation, I highly recommend giving the books a try. Bernard Cornwell's writing offers even more depth and nuance to the characters and events that fans of the show will appreciate. "War Lord" promises to be a fitting end to this epic saga, and I can’t wait to see how Cornwell wraps up Uhtred’s journey.
