This thing is SO COOL!!! It's plenty sharp. I just chopped through potatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. It was so fun... when I finish writing this I'm going back to the fridge to chop MORE. Usually veggies sit in my fridge till they rot because I hate cutting them. But everything will now be prepped and ready to go when I need it. This thing not only cuts food, it significantly cuts prep time!I'm accident prone, so because of the reviews saying people had cut themselves, I purchased some of those finger protecting gloves along with it.You really don't need them.No offense to the people who hurt themselves, but I don't really understand how you wouldn't realize that your finger is between the blade and the flat surface before you press down.I think you're actually much LESS apt to cut yourself with this than a regular knife and cutting board.Great purchase!

This slicer is perfect for quick chops for things like carrots and cucumbers, but you can actually use it to cut chicken too! The sharpener works great and gets it ready to cut through most anything. If you don't want to get an entire cutting board dirty, this thing will be your best friend.
