Kee Wah Bakery Four Kinds Assorted Gift Pack Mooncake 四式月餅

I bought this out of sheer curiosity. I had heard about moon cakes but never had any. Warning, if you are of northern European decent like me know now these sweets are not made for a the modern white guy palate. The Kee Wah bakery probably is the best source and they really do make a dynamite product. The presentation of the metal box, individually wrapped cakes, with complimentary carry/gift bag, AND calendar with order menu is above and beyond what I expect from a good vendor. This company makes a high quality product. But it may not be what you expect. The cakes are sweet but not that sweet. The lotus and bean cake have a far greater deal of complexity of flavor than any store bought cake you can get in the states. I plan to order those again direct from the company next year. The duck egg yolk is traditional and imparts something indescribable to the cake but I will order cakes with no yolk from now on. The company has cakes with and without yolk so the company caters to those die hard traditionalist who want yolk and those who may only want the cake filling. I did not care for their mixed nut and pork but it had a great mixture of flavor - so I knew the quality is high but not to my liking. If you like bitter almond with a hint of smoke pork the mixed nut and pork would be your favorite - I have never had anything like it before. If you want to experience something Eastern and ancient this is it. Just know, this cake is not modern, it is something from a past age so is flavor characteristics are unique and not anything like modern food. Well worth the money for the learning experience and getting something radically different.

I bought these as a gift. Kee Wah's moon cakes are fresh and the quality is always consistent.

Items were shipped in a timely fashion. The mooncakes are fresh and tasty. Price is a bit on the high side but still OK since they're from a trustworthy brand. We're thankful that we have them to prepare for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

It's over-priced although tastes good.

The date paste moon is disgusting and gross! The rest of OK except for way too sweet… Very disappointed.

It tasts very good and the quality is high. Only that the price is also high. I hope have more tasts next time.
