Do not buy!!!!!!
Worked great until I upgraded my phone and the app doesn't work with newer phones. App won't download making the sensor worthless. I contacted the company and they never replied. If you buy it you just wasted your money because there is no way to use it without the app.

Bad
Does not work at all…

Yes, it does work
This does work -- I tested it repeatedly in proximity to uranium glass (aka "Vaseline glass"), which is only slightly radioactive (occasional clicks on my Cold War surplus Geiger counter). I can't express an opinion on its precision, but if the question is whether it detects whether gamma/x radiation is in excess of normal background, my informal tests say yes, it does. Not sure what you would use this for. Maybe if you lived near a nuclear plant? I don't, but I bought it because it is cool.

Great for peace of mind
Great to have the peace of Mind. The user interface is a little too simple. Would be nice to have a few more features, but definitely gets the job done.

Positive indicator for radiation, but not for how much
I used this product in combination with a dosimeter while visiting Chernobyl. The tour operator (a licensed and well acclaimed one) provided the dosimeter, whose readings always matched the readings of my fellow tour-ists and guide. That is to say, their dosimeters were well calibrated and picked up radiation counts fairly quickly. At many occassions I compared the SmartGeiger's readings to those of my dosimeter, often finding that the SmartGeiger doesn't count small doses (below 1. to 1.5 microSievert/hour (miS/h)), or fails to read increased background radiation (average background in Chernobyl / Kyiv was about 0.3 miS/h, whereas the world standard (and starting point of SmartGeiger) is 0.1 miS/h. This makes sense in the way that the SmartGeiger is designed to measure specific spots, not all-around radiation, yet its still a pity. A similar failure to read was while riding the bus through heavily irradiated areas: the dosimeter maxed out at 11.4 miS/h, whereas SmartGeiger read nothing. On other occassions, the SmartGeiger did pick up radiation, often exponentially 3x as much as the dosimeter. A particular metal slab read 4.5, 8,9 and over 11. miS/h, where the SmartGeiger respectively read 25., 40 and lastly 62.3 miS/h.In short: the SmartGeiger works positively to tell you that there is indeed radiation on a very particular spot. However useful that knowledge is, you cannot trust its readings and you cannot measure background radiation. If you're a junk / thrift dealer wanting to know whether your merchandise is irradiated or not, this thing can help you out. If you're actually wanting to take measurements and do a comparative study, buy a professional dosimeter.

I don't think it's very accurate. My tv and my phone was showing very high reading, I would be sick by now if it was true.

Works very well.
Great product. Got it to measure radiation from thyroid treatment. Really works well.
