THE book to get if you're just learning how to weave
I bought another book before this one. It's inspirational, I like the projects, but it wasn't going to teach me how to be a weaver. I saw someone's review that said that same thing and they recommended this book by Rachel Denbow. A big thank you to whoever that was!I just finished skimming over the whole book and I'm really impressed. Start here if you want to learn to weave (and maybe go to Creativebug to see their beginners weaving course)! The author makes a complex process simple and it has projects that progress from easy so you learn the basics to more complicated.

Best of the weaving books I've seen.
I don't often give 5 stars in reviews (if I write them at all), but I REALLY loved this DIY book for a few main reasons:1) There are step-by-step, up-close photos throughout the book that makes it very accessible for someone like me who was brand new at weaving2) There are a ton of *different* types of weaving projects as wall hangings, and then also weaving for practicality --usable items like a large rug, clutch, pillow.3) There is a lot of variety within the wall hanging projects to feel like you could try a lot of different textures (like feathers, leather, roving), they're not all the same.4) There are pictures on nearly every page and the styling is excellent, which helped me get inspired even though I was a bit overwhelmed at learning something newHonestly, this is the best book on the market I've seen for learning to weave. I checked a lot out at the library and decided on buying this one as I felt it was the best overall for style/project type/accessibility/cost. Hope this helps!

Great book for both complete beginners and more experienced weavers
I wanted to get started learning to weave on a frame loom and checked out a couple books in stores. One wasn't my style and the other didn't have very good reviews. Someone mentioned "DIY Woven Art" as a much better alternative, so I decided to order it. I'm very glad I did. I wanted a book that would walk me through the basics of weaving while also including projects that I would actually want to display in my own home. This book does both. Even now that I'm more experienced and design my own pieces, I continue to use it as a reference for weaving techniques. Eventually I plan on going back and making some of the more advanced projects in the book. I would highly recommend this book for beginning students with no weaving experience at all who want to get started, or for intermediate students who want to learn a little more and get ideas for taking their work to the next level.

I have really enjoyed this book and the new creative outlet it has opened to me. DIY Woven Art is great for a beginner, like myself, with friendly, clear instruction, wonderful photos, and lots of information on materials for starting out. The projects are beautiful, fun, and inspired me to keep going with larger pieces. While visiting my elderly mother with late stage dementia recently, I made a small loom from an old box lid, (instructions from this book) and together, we made a tiny weaving. We used bright colors that would be easy for her to see. I would weave a row and she would press the yarn down with a large needle or her finger. She doesn't speak much anymore, but she loved to sew and crochet all her life, and it was wonderful to find a way to engage her, even if just for a few minutes at a time, making something together. I am so happy to have come across this book!

Such a great beginner's resource!
I was gifted this book recently and have LOVED it. I'm currently in the middle of working through the projects, and it's been such a great creative outlet. Weaving is such a beginner friendly craft because it doesn't require a ton of equipment or expensive supplies. Rachel includes instructions on how to build your own DIY loom, and gives a very thorough walk through of different fiber types so you know what to look for. I love how she gives specific instructions for copying the designs in the project photos, but also encourages you to make each piece your own by choosing different colors or patterns. She goes beyond wall hangings and includes some other super fun projects like pillow shams, table runners, and a clutch - which I am excited to get to do! I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn a new craft!

... fan of Rachel's for years and drooling over her beautiful woven masterpieces
I purchased this book after being a fan of Rachel's for years and drooling over her beautiful woven masterpieces. I then took a class from Ms. Denbow where I grew my skills and love for the finished product. If you are on the fence about whether or not you can gain what you need to know to begin weaving, you must grab this book now! Rachel's tips and step-by-step instructions are fantastic and I have finished many gorgeous weavings that I have gifted. There are many projects in the book and all of them are absolutely doable with the easy to understand instructions. I enjoy following Rachel's fiber journey and am happy so she put out such a fabulous book on a topic that was so hard to find information on previous to it's release. Thank you, Rachel, for such an amazing source of information and inspiration!

LOVE!
Loved this book and would recommend it for beginners and experienced weavers alike! Anyone new to weaving will have a comprehensive overview, full of detailed instructions and helpful step-by-step photos showing you the way, and those with more experience will find new tips and tricks. I found myself saying several times, “Oh, I never thought to do it that way.”One of my favorite things is the detailed list of supplies for each project, including a list of specific fiber brands and sources at the end.If you’re looking for a new hobby or looking to continue learning to weave, get this book. I’ll also mention that the author does live workshops in various cities. If you have a chance to check one out, they’re really fun! It’s impossible for anyone interested in fiber or textiles to not be inspired by Rachel’s work!

Fantastic Resource for the Next Generation of Weavers
I'm seriously so thankful for this book. DIY Woven Art by Rachel Denbow really filled all of the holes in my weaving, and brought me to a place where I am confident executing my original designs with the techniques demonstrated. I have recommended this book to several others who want to start learning, and reference it frequently when hitting issues in my work. Lots of fun projects, and well explained concepts that take you from no experience to creating your own art in no time - Thank you for this fantastic resource for the next generation of weavers!

Excellent introduction to frame loom weaving
One of the best of the modern books on weaving that I have come across! The author approaches her subject in a serious and professional manner; she uses the correct weaving terms instead of making up her own, and introduces the basic techniques of tapestry weaving you will need, not just to make the great projects in this book, but those that will help you transfer to more advanced weaving techniques if you want to explore the craft further. The projects are bright and modern and build on the different basic techniques covered in the book, and you will learn how to read a cartoon and design your own patterns. You also have a choice of looms to make as different looms can do different things, without spending a small fortune. This book sets the standard for the other books on the subject, and I was impressed enough to buy a hard copy. As an introduction to weaving its excellent, and even if you do not want to get more adventurous and simply make cushions, bags and wall-hangings, there is enough here to keep you occupied for a long time experimenting with variations on the techniques and patterns in this book. Its a keeper.

Great for all levels of weavers
Even as a moderately experienced weaver who purchased this book as a pre order last year, I still reference this book all the time! Rachel has great techniques and tips for starting to weave and finding your style as well and covering the little things like finishing a piece to look neat and tidy. The projects in this book are also realistic and have something for every level. I recently loaned it to a friend to start her weaving journey because I knew it would be easy to follow, even for someone with zero experience!
