This hat will keep your whole head warm for sure, and your ears and neck because it is big and thick. The colder it gets, the better this hat is. This hat is best suited for actually probably below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. For it to be waterproof there appears to be a inner layer that is plastic from what I can tell about the hat. The hat, when you bend and move it around and take it on or off has a faint plastic grocery store shopping bag crinkling sound or feeling to it somewhere deep inside it. The sound or crinkling is from a inner layer and it must be some thin piece of plastic. This must be how it is a water resistant hat. Anyway, it looks nice and feels great. The lip of the edge of the hat is non-adjustable and sewed into place. You will burn up if you wear this hat and start sweating. Don't jog with this hat on, unless it's 20 below zero. It's for really cold weather. The hat is huge and covers ears and neck. If i were to attempt to sit outside all day in cold weather, or take a leisurely stroll for a long time outdoors when it is very cold, this would be the best hat I have found. This is warmer than any you will find at the regular department stores.

Despite being little thick and making my head look big, this hat worked perfectly. Kept my head and ears warm and never had any issues with water getting through.Other reviews mentioned the inner layer's crinkling sounds being loud but I didn't notice any noises when I was actually wearing it.

The person who delivered the item didn't place it at the correct address. We purchased these items for my son who works for a gas company has to go out to check gas meters, lines, etc. These items keeping him warm helps him, and, in turn helps others. These items cost more money than i woukd normally spend on these types, but the products themselves, I believe, are worth it. I do not believe that this is in any way the fault of this company. However, Amazon has not responded and now I have to purchase the items again if I want my son to have them. Disappointing.

I am a cold natured person, so I ordered this despite the reviews about the strange noise. I was very concerned it wasn't going to be worth the hype as I have been wearing Carhartt brand stocking caps for years. I ordered the XL size after reading other reviews and I think that fits my melon just fine. It doesn't make enough weird sound to dissuade me from buying this again. It isn't as bad as some people have made it out to be.It's been wintery and snowing all day today and this beanie worked fine all day. I am even able to fit it over a baseball cap.The only thing I didn't anticipate was the rolled edge is sewn/pinned down in two places and I wish I could adjust it. I suppose I could cut it, but I have learned to tolerate it. I love this stocking cap.I'll probably be purchasing another or various colors soon. It's nice and toasty and soft. Highly recommended!

This is a very comfortable hat. It is completely windproof, thanks to the inner lining. This hat is NOT for high energy activities in cool weather. This hat is good for low energy activities in sub zero temperatures. Try jogging while wearing this hat, and you might as well stick your head in an oven. This is exactly what I was looking for in a winter hat.

I ordered the XXL for the extra length, and I’m glad I did. I’ve had many similar beanies through the years, but this is the first that covers my head completely, and even covers part of my neck.The hat arrived today and I put it on immediately after retrieving it from my delivery store. I wore it for about 30 minutes in 38 F temperature with a 7 MPH wind, but I felt completely comfortable and not overheated as I have with other hats. I think this hat will perform well in temperatures down to 14 F (-10 C).The crinkling sound some commenters have mentioned is soft when manipulating the hat in my hands, and nonexistent when wearing the hat, even when I move my head. The fact the hat is also waterproof is just a wonderful extra bonus.

I actually love this hat. My husband has it in black and I wore it on a very cold day and it kept my head totally warm. HOWEVER, I ordered it in grey for myself and was so disappointed. It seems to be more of a green color to me. I have included a picture showing it against my husband's grey shirt. I hope you can tell the difference. I thought my hat would be more of the color of his shirt, but it was more of a green color that I would never wear. Sent it back.

Great colder weather hat, good wind and water protection

Warm, nice material and long lasting

I usually read the negative (1 & 2 star) reviews first and several people moaned about the noise the hat makes. All I can say is that they must have super senstive hearing because, whilst I could hear the slight crinkly noise, which I assume is made by the waterproof/breathable layer, it wasn't obvious or bothersome at all, and only then when you were putting the thing on. The hat is warm and well made and a bargain at what I paid on here for it (£17.50). I have a large-ish head at 61cm circumference but followed other people's advice and went for the L-XL rather than the largest one and it fits perfectly. I'm off with it for a spot of winter twitching!
